Benny ran away from hungry animals and people as he tried to convince them that he was a boy, and wasn't a burger. Benny's mom came to his rescue and after eating fruits and vegetables, Benny turned back into the boy he used to be.

My first books were about teenage life and came from my own experiences and concerns – I was fourteen when I discovered the immense and liberating power of writing and it was my main stay during my largely unhappy teenage years. Since graduating from Kingston College of Art in 2004 Mei Matsuoka has been in much demand as an illustrator.

Kids will be giggling at the kid who accidentally turns himself into a hamburger, and spends the day running from an ever-increasing crowd.Born in Tokyo and moving to England at 11, she studied illustration and animation at Kingston University, London. Prose and part-rhyme make this a lovely book to read aloud, and the illustrations by Mei Matsuoka are lively and bright.She examines themes of right and wrong, prejudice, stereotyping, psychology, reality and abstract thought. I've won a number of prizes, most recently The Royal Mail Award for Scottish Children's Books for the picture book Billy Monster's Daymare. The illustrations are wonderful and the attention to detail with a rabbit following Benny is so well considered.
