I feel strongly that this is due to the sexualisation of lesbians and outwardly going against heterosexual norms.If it had, I don't think I’d be writing this piece, but that’s exactly why the piece needs to be written. It wasn’t easy reaching a point in my life where I can confidently say the words ‘I am a lesbian’, without shying away or hinting at it. If the lesbian identity is just seen as a tool for the pleasure of others it can never be treated with respect.
