Although you can pair the Galaxy Watch 6 series with non-Samsung Android phones, some features work only with Samsung Galaxy handsets, including irregular heart rhythm notifications, phone separation alerts, and the Camera Controller app. The Watch6 runs the new Wear OS 4 version, and the app selection on Google's smartwatch platform is slowly improving. Note that for all of these, I left all the screen brightness details at defaults, but did use always-on display the entire time. To me, I’m still not a huge fan of the touch bezel (and many people agree with me), it just never works out as reliably as you’d hope. In testing, the Classic exhibited the same slight delay as the standard model when detecting rapid heart rate change during workouts—their only notable fitness-tracking shortcoming I have found.

I could have perhaps understood if Samsung’s cheaper non-Classic units didn’t have it and Classic did.
The Galaxy Watch 6 series is a lot more durable than the Google Pixel Watch, which offers a 5ATM rating but no promised protection against dust or extreme temperatures. The latter, though, requires you to keep your phone nearby as it uses those mics to pick up the snoring sounds. Unveiled at Samsung Unpacked 2023, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic was overshadowed by those new foldables (the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5) and probably didn't get all the love it deserves. Samsung has always had excellent auto-detect capabilities, and I love not having to fiddle with the tiny screen just to start an activity. Meanwhile, from the watch face, if you swipe down, you’ll see your settings (lots of settings), and if you swipe from the left, you’ll see notifications.Actually, you won’t be done, as once you go to start a workout, there’s more ‘I agree’ prompts to be had. Payment made easy: Grab a drink and a snack using Samsung Wallet with a single tap of your Watch6 Classic. Neither model earns our Editors' Choice due to this generation's unimpressive battery life, but if you're in the market for an Android-compatible smartwatch, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 series is hard to beat.
