About this deal

If I had been in a more critical mood when I read this it probably wouldn't have gotten a full score, but I was too busy enjoying myself to criticize literally anything. There he meets Essie, who turns out to be a witch living in a very strange house with some other witches and cue some very strange happenings. I usually read books within a week and refuse to DNF, so this book has been haunting my peace of mind.

This spooky season curl up with the perfect witchy romcom for fans of Gilmore Girls, Hocus Pocus and Charmed. Johnson's magical world is so vividly imagined that you'll be tempted to believe in witches and spells yourself. Siena, Avery, Maude, Prudence, Blessing, and Lilith all contributed so much to the story, and I loved how unique each of them were. And for a character that no one can deny is an ineffective waster, I can’t see why he inspired so much devotion in a powerful woman. The history aspect was really interesting and, given the house’s magic (and Essie’s mum, Lilith’s abilities) I do hope Johnson utilises both in future books. All Essie ever wanted was to have a normal life but in the end she found herself drawn back to Beldam House because she just can’t stop her witchiness (although the ability to instantly chill wine is pretty awesome, even she has to admit). Her accents are fun, her voice is clear and honestly, I just want to hear her narrate all of my future audiobooks. Hex Appeal follows Essie, who lives in the village of Goodwinter with her coven, and Josh who has just moved to the village and it turns out he is her landlord. Initially, I thought this book was a mash-up between The House in the Cerulean Sea (with the house being its own character) and the Hex Ex (with the exes and the romance). Essie had this alternative, quirky, long hair and dungarees thing going on, sort of “I’m not like other girls” but not exactly, and it worked great on her.

Essie is dressed up in corsets and stuff and Josh tries to have a coherent thought probably, but all he can think about is her "bosom". I sold my first book in 2005 and since then have published many award-winning paranormal and contemporary romances and light-hearted mysteries, including the popular Sophie Green series. He was boring, and when he wasn’t boring, he was throwing tantrums or obsessing over Essie’s boobs (why. Set in the charming village of Good Winter, the novel introduces us to the quirky inhabitants of Beldam House, a large and ever-changing mansion.

In addition, there was something else more nefarious going on in the seemingly idyllic town of Good Winter that kept my attention hooked. compulsively readable' ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐'So much fun, definitely a good read for fall' ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐'I love all the witchy vibes' ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐'Full of magic and cosy comfort.Hex Appeal is a quirky fast-paced magical romance story with characters that are so easy to love and a house that is so enchanting. Maybe it’s just that I’m a fantasy girl at heart, who loves world building, but there just wasn’t enough explanations anywhere! Overall, this was an interesting, spooky, and fast-paced read but the romance itself missed the mark for me.
