I am hesitant to get the new IM 30 but from what I've heard around the 'net, I think it'll be better than the 24. I plan to just wait a month for the new tank to cycle with their water, their rock, and their sand, and then add Athena and Apollo (the two clowns) back into the new tank. I swear half of the issues I had with my last tank weren’t helped by the fact I can’t make a decent cup of tea, let alone mix good quality tank water… I have salt and an RO unit to hand if needed, but the aim is to keep at least 25 litres of natural water to hand at all times. So your statement is completely false and if they truly were the worst company they wouldn't be making thousands of dollars off of good tanks where one series was a failure. Since March, I’ve been slowly adding a few new corals (some nice zoas, a superman montipora, some pachyclavularia frags, some acan frags and a lovely Alveopora frag) and I’m now actually able to enjoy the new tank after setting it up. The tank comes with a decent mesh cover, but I soon realised that the evaporation was insane: I was topping things up manually several times a day to stop the water level dropping low and things gurgling. I run an old ATC-800 for temperature control, with the heater and some Azoo fans plugged in to keep the temperature relatively stable.I did a few small water changes on the old tank to try and get the chemistry similar to the new tank.
If you still have it I'd be curious if your serial number puts it in the thicker glass model range--hopefully the later model tanks aren't also failing. I'd be hard pressed to send back my tank just to wait for them to get me another one to replace while I play Russian Roulette each day to finally come home to my apartment being flooded, fish lost and all corals gone. I have a recommendation that you're probably not going to like but I promise, if you don't take it seriously your going to end up one unhappy camper in the world of salt water tanks.
