The Kaweco Sport Rollerball Pen was designed in the 1930s and, like its older sibling, has earned a reputation for lasting reliability and style. cm tall when closed and therefore could be easily carried with you, but reached a normal size of 13 cm with the cap attached.

The Kaweco FROSTED Sport stands out due to its light pastel colours and its slightly opaque, milky plastic which gives a glimpse of the inner workings of the pen.The grip itself is smooth plastic, but the cap threading provides a bit of extra grip to keep it from slipping between fingers. It features the iconic octagonal screw-close cap and you can add an optional pen clip in gold or silver. They both have cylindrical bodies with long octagonal caps that cover most of the pens’ barrels when capped.

To prevent galling, we recommend applying a small amount of silicone grease to the threads between the grip section and barrel, especially on the raw aluminum AL Sport. Without the clip, the Sport ballpoint is otherwise prone to accidentally deploying in your pocket, though if you always carry your pen in a purse or bag this may not present any issues. When I began this review, I wondered if I’d feel that this inexpensive Kaweco had lost its charm, after trying countless more expensive fountain pens.

Bronze is not rare, so I assume the reason why this will not be a permanent addition to the line up is because Kaweco have either procured a limited supply of bronze or expect cost of the raw material to rise.
