About this deal

It is like a 4-port USB Hub that connects to two different machines, and it has a switch to choose which machine you want to use. To Esther above (Although you probably will never see this follow up) I am using my Kensington Expert Wireless Trackball on two different devices, a Macbook laptop and a Desktop Linux PC. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. Just like any other trackball or mouse, the buttons will show signs of use after a few years of intense use. You can set app-specific mappings for as many programs as you like, and upload those mapping files to either Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive for transfer from one device to another.

They are worth considering, however, and I'm still holding out hope for a design tweak or new functionality that bridges the gap. The free downloadable software provides an even more personalised experience, giving you the ability to assign a wide variety of program functions to each of the 4 buttons, as well as controlling the pointer speed and scrolling speed. It appears that Kensington in their wisdom wanted to have it moving in small steps so they introduced a magnet. These clean high quality materials are then sent directly to our recycling partner so they can be put back into the raw material streams. Optical tracking with the mouse is highly accurate with DiamondEye ™ movement detection technology providing smooth, precise cursor control. It takes forever to load, and introduces a huge lag in button response speed, something like 1/4 of a second lag. On top of that, the battery housing for the Expert Mouse Wireless stacks the two AAs on top of each other, which makes it tricky to get the bottom battery out.It should come as no surprise that Kensington, a company known for making trackballs, would design what I see as the platonic ideal of the form. We separate the 4 constituent parts (polystyrene, plastic, wood and cardboard) at the depots then bale and compact the materials at our hub. The top buttons can be set to for example back / forward, media player functions, launching applications or documents etcetera. The largest ball of all the current trackballs (together with the Kensington SlimBlade which has the same ball, but in red) is surrounded by a black rubber scrollwheel and four large buttons. Until I publish the review, take a look at the features of the Kensington Expert Wireless Trackball below, or read the review of the Wired Expert model. Adjusting the cursor sensitivity so the cursor moves the amount you feel it should as you roll the ball is essential to the experience. If you aren't a gamer or making digital art, your speed and accuracy will improve over time to the point where the trackball becomes second nature.Never are the fingers in each other’s way or will you need to move your fingers to access certain functions (unless you want to use the top two buttons). For some people, depending on their desk and chair situation or personal preference, this allows for a better hand position. You spin the dial to move up and down web pages or documents with complete ease while the ball has been specially designed with an absolute spherical, hard surface for precise tracking and control. I don’t remember it being this loud from my audio days, but that was 5 years ago and I’ve slept since then, so I probably forgot about it.

I would find it very hard to give up the comfort and accuracy of the Expert for another finger-operated trackball. I’ve been using a Logitech Cordless Optical TrackMan for as long as they’ve been out and never had problems with the signal (except when batteries are low) and that’s with several monitors, powered speakers, wireless computer keyboard, lots of wiring and audio gear surrounding my chair. The free downloadable TrackballWorks software gives you the ability to assign a wide variety of program functions to each of the 4 buttons, as well as adjusting cursor and scrolling speeds. They offer economy of movement—all the work falls to a few fingers that, while they move a lot, never have to stretch. Around the ball is a textured scroll ring that looks a bit like the ring around an old kitchen timer.
