About this deal

It then pulls fairly level with 100% spot on High, although slightly lower due to the excess heat from Turbo.

As such it is interesting to find out how the difference in reflector affects the image of the light: I will show you! Two types of white light (which can burst up to 2000lm) and red light can be used in different scenarios. After using the olight H2R for the past year, and although a good head torch I decided to replace it with the nitecore HC68.

If you want to use unprotected cells, that’s doable – I tested this light with a Sony VTC6 and it worked fine.

It’s not inexpensive, but the quality is first-rate and utility is unmatched to any headlamp I have ever used. The package includes a rechargeable lithium battery in 18650 format (Nitecore NL1835HP 3,500 mAh - 8A). It is available for instant access to the red light while it is designed with a wide voltage range, compatible with various AA batteries. Inspired by the notion to "Keep Innovating" as a global leader of LED flashlights and chargers with over 100 patents and a grand-slam award winner of the American International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA), German iF Design Award, Red Dot Design Award and the Japanese G-Mark (Good Design), NITECORE creates innovative products in a wide variety of fields and leads the industry in new standards of portability, aesthetic, output and functionality. This makes the HC68 an ideal headlamp for camping, running, trekking, biking, or any professional work such as industrial maintenance, security, or patrol. The headlamp offers a spot and floodlight adjustable design which is operated by the dual switches on the top of the light. The new Nitecore headlamp has a maximum power of 2,000 lumens for an intensity of 10,300cd and covers a maximum distance of 202 meters. As a versatile 21700 L-shaped headlamp, the HC35 has a CNC machined unibody design featuring lightweight, solidity and excellent heat dissipation. Something that can do 400 lumens long-term (minimum 6 hours, ideally 8+), durable (water/mud/dirt), and ultrabright mode (1k lumens). Unfortunately (for me), it’s still a cool white – I think this light would be better served with something more neutral or even warm white, but as always, this is a personal preference.

To keep it simple, I’ve just done runtimes on the two highest modes (“Highest” and “High”) in both 100% spot and 100% flood, as well as the first 10 minutes of the Turbo mode, which lights up both emitters. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. The HC68 itself doesn’t have any voltage warnings – on bench power, I was able to wind the power down to 2. It’s comfortable to wear, and will most likely find its way into the set of headlamps I leave lying around the place after I do a few small modifications, as per the next paragraph. The light emitted by the 2 main LEDs (Luminus SST-40-W) has a good uniformity and the beam covers an illumination angle of 150 °.There’s a huge amount of modes that can be tested here – five brightnesses in two different modes (spot and flood), with an infinite number of options between, as spot and flood mix. Excellent adjustable beam with a lighting angle of up to 150 ° and an autonomy of up to 33 days in Ultralow mode. It fits my big head, has a nice curved partially plastic and rubber front, and rubber strips to help maintain its position. The car’s secondary oxygen sensor wiring is buried above the exhaust and almost impossible to see or access without adequate light. This could have been a great headlamp, but they ruined it by trying to pack too many modes and fearures into it.
