About this deal

When his older sister and her class go on a field trip to see the world’s largest warehouse, is Noah “Needed On Journey”? Having worked with director Danny Boyle on Millions, Danny asked Frank to be part of the team creating the Opening Ceremony for the London 2012 Olympics.

Noah accidentally stows away on a geography field trip and then breaks the internet, or so he believes. Noah’s creation of a treasure map to distract the group and the subsequent discovery of gold all ads to the adventure. a funny and life-affirming tale about co-operation and resourcefulness, with a Blytonesque hidden-loot subplot thrown in. Told in letters that are mainly written by Noah to his parents in which he shares all about what the children have been up to over the course of five days (and nights), which includes foiling a robbery.I can report that it's a brilliant adventure with Frank's trademark humour, and kid-centred storytelling throughout. In common with some of his previous books, there is some mild peril involving dastardly criminals up to no good, whom - in the manner of Scooby Doo - the meddling kids thwart. However, during a short-lived career as an assistant at a puppet show, he earned a fortune entirely in small change. What is comical and striking ( and worthy of family and class discussion ) is how the youngsters are so dependent on the internet and social media within their lives for survival, knowledge and communication.

I just feel like this book was strong without this extra seemingly quite random aspect to the story that also didn’t feel fully fleshed out. It was such a pleasure to meet you both, and I really appreciated how smoothly and professionally you ran everything. I found getting into this book quite difficult, instead of chapters it's written in 'letters' addressed to the parents of the boy writing them. Frank Cottrell-Boyce is one of those “gem of an author” who knows how to tap into what young people want to read and enjoy. I was at my last school for 4 years and we had ********* book fairs every term – and every term, I was disappointed by the narrow range of books.Noah, his sister and four of her classmates end up marooned on a tiny island with no grown ups and no way to get home. He couldn’t resist imagining how all of that great art might have affected the people who lived near the mine.

I accidentally stowed away on a geography trip and got accidentally bus-wrecked with five Year Nines on the island of AranOr. Although according to his parents he is also the one who has broken the internet, which is no longer working and they refuse to allow him home until he fixes it. How is Noah communicating with his parents when technology doesn’t work and the kids are stuck on an island in the middle of the sea – Letters of course!

See: "Have you noticed, by the way, that Eve is always asking questions and then answering them herself before you get a chance?

Yourself and Bob are much cherished in our booky world and I personally really appreciate everything that you do.At another point, I thought I'd spotted a hiccup in the timeline: at the end of one letter, Noah learned that he had received a letter from his family; we were then presented immediately with said letter, which talked about events which had only just happened. He is also the author of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Flies Again , Cosmic , Framed, The Astounding Broccoli Boy and Runaway Robot . Thereafter, further disaster strikes, for he’s forgotten to apply the handbrake and the mini bus is teetering on a cliff edge… It seems that the minibus has arrived in a place of confusion.
