About this deal

The cake will keep in an airtight container for 3 days in a cool place. You can freeze the sponges either alone, or decorated. Once the sponges are fully cool, wrap them well with cling film or put them in an airtight container with some baking paper between them. You can freeze the buttercream on it's own in a tub, or you can decorate the cake and freeze it fully assembled. To do this and avoid damage to the decoration, freeze it either in an airtight container. Or let it freeze solid on a cake board or plate, then wrap in cling film. Remove the cling film when you take it out to defrost it, if you don't it could damage the appearance of the decoration as it defrosts and softens. You can also freeze slices of the cake, again well wrapped in cling film or in airtight containers. Can you make this cake with plain or all purpose flour? Izy decided to add in an extra layer at the last minute and we can’t thank her enough. You can never have too much cake…especially when it’s topped with Maltesers. Butter – Always use good quality unsalted butter in baking. It gives you full control of the overall flavour. Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave – blast for 30 seconds, stir and microwave again until the chocolate melts. Set aside to cool slightly. Meanwhile take the cream cheese out of the fridge to warm up a little. Leave the cake to cool fully. For the buttercream, mix the softened butter on it's own briefly, then add the icing sugar, malt powder, vanilla extract and milk, and mix until smooth. Spread or pipe it onto the cake and decorate with Maltesers spread and Maltesers.

Caster Sugar – Golden caster sugar is my favourite for it’s slight caramel flavour, but regular caster sugar will work too. Microwave the Malteser chocolate spread for 30-40 seconds and stir it to loosen. Spread it over the top of the chilled cheesecake to cover. But if you can’t get your mitts on the ice cream (unfortunately we can’t ship it!) then what’s stopping you from creating your own?The cupcakes will last for 2-3 days in an airtight container in a cool place. You can freeze both the cupcakes and the buttercream. To freeze them separately, wrap the cupcakes well in cling film or put them in an airtight container. The buttercream can be frozen in a sealed tub. To freeze them decorated, freeze the cupcakes on a plate until frozen solid (without the Maltesers and Malteser buttons), then carefully wrap in cling film. Remove the clingfilm when you take the cupcakes out of the freezer to defrost, as if they defrost with it still on it could damage the buttercream Can you make the cupcakes with plain/all purpose flour? Every mouthful is delicious! Make the chocolate sponge by mixing the butter and caster sugar together, then add eggs and milk, then self raising flour and cocoa powder. I love Maltesers. How long does this cake last for and can you freeze it?

It's easier to drizzle the Maltesers spread over the cake if you warm it up briefly in the microwave first. I recommend 15-20 seconds. If you are looking to make a smaller batch in a more refined serving, then serve the Maltesers cheesecake in cups. Very similar to my peppermint crisp tart! My recommendation is to serve in the following method: Self raising flour, which is very commonly used in the UK where I am based, already contains a raising agent and a little salt too. Therefore if you want to swap it for plain or all purpose flour, you will need to add some additional baking powder and also a little salt if you like. Some people like to add salt to cake recipes and some don't, so I'll leave that up to you as it won't affect the bake. The general advice is to add 2 teaspoons baking powder (a measuring teaspoon, not the kind you stir your coffee with) per every 200g plain or all purpose flour. So for this recipe you'd need to add 3 teaspoons baking powder. Please note, I have not tested this recipe using plain or all purpose flour. Can this cake be made gluten or dairy free?
