About this deal

You get to see a lot of growth from Lila over the course of the story as she goes to England since her mental health hasn't been great. In Laura Taylor Namey’s A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow, heroine Lila Reyes finds herself quite literally out of her comfort zone – Miami – as her family, concerned for her mental and physical well-being after a series of life crises, sends her to stay with a family friend in a small English village. It didn’t happen at Miami International when I wore an unbreakable scowl, even as I gave obligatory kisses to mis padres and my sister, Pilar. Orion entertains her with his mental collection of superstitions and sweeps her onto his vintage motorbike. Orion is quite knowledgeable about tea and a very cute moment was him trying to figure out Lila’s perfect tea flavor.

Cozier than a hand-knit gray cardigan and richer than Abuela's pastelito recipe, Namey takes you from Miami to Winchester, and leaves your heart belonging to both. She meets some people, gets drawn into their social circle and also gets to spend some time in the kitchen without ingredients that are familiar to her, so she starts experimenting and fusing cuisines together as she makes treats for the guests at the pub. Climbing ivy twists from the portico, traveling around the three-story inn with avenues of green veins.I'm a voracious reader from North Carolina currently traveling the United States with my husband and reviewing books as the mood strikes.

I also hate that I'm giving this such a low rating because a lot of the authors personal life went into this book. I never honestly even knew the status of their relationship because they never confessed feelings or anything, they just hugged one time.A charming, heartwarming story following a Miami girl who unexpectedly finds love - and herself - in a small English town. The teen's sweet love story and desire to find herself while trying to stay connected to her Cuban heritage is a relatable message. Quick Thoughts: A sugar-sweet novel that made me laugh, cry and wish on a happy ending for a girl with big dreams and a star-named boy. It’s interesting, but I just never found myself completely enraptured by it like so many people seem to be. However, its been important for me to take time time for my mental health, but having read this book back in September I just could not leave this review in the drafts and taking time to reflect on this book made it more impactful for me the more I thought about a major theme and idea surrounding Lila’s story: healing.
