About this deal

A Game of Lies has everything; a clever plot , a glorious setting , engaging characters and buckets of tension . Fans of the first book will undoubtedly relish the opportunity to rejoin these characters on their journey. Finally, I do hope number three is underway as I can’t wait for my next dose of Ffion, Leo and Dave who hopefully will be less er, Dave!

It's actually the whole reason I started the series – I was approved for this one on NetGalley and immediately requested the first installment from the library so that I wouldn't miss out on any of the backstory. It’s a lengthy procedural with a lot of characters, a non-linear timeline, and it won’t be for everyone but once I got into the story a bit I was well and truly addicted and it’s still a favorite. In summary, A Game of Lies is a splendid continuation of Clare MacKintosh's gripping tale, offering a rich blend of mystery, emotion, and intrigue.Welke deelnemers zullen de anderen proberen te ontmaskeren terwijl ze geconfronteerd worden met hun grootste angsten? A Game of Lies is an aptly titled police procedural about seven reality TV contestants who become suspects in a murder.

stars, rounded up, because this was a page-turning mystery/thriller with an ending I did not see coming. There is also the not so smooth developing relationship between Ffion and Leo, another detective we met in the first book in this series. That ending brought such a deep smile to my face that, as you reach it, most readers will likely agree with me. While A Game of Lies didn't have as many jaw dropping reveals as book one, I really enjoyed this story and never saw thewas obviously my cup of tea, but I think even non-procedural fans can enjoy this series. The characters, already well-established in the previous instalment, are given room to evolve and grow, adding new layers to their personalities. The central mystery keeps you guessing and the relationships between our major characters continues to be compelling. A Game of Lies by Claire Mackintosh is based around a reality TV show where a murder takes place in the camp and Ffion is tasked with solving the crime. I absolutely love the start of this where we are introduced to flatulent rescue dog Dave, a character in his own right and shall we say a bit of a handful? We are back in Wales where a reality TV ahow incites murder and mayhem, bringing Ffion and Leo back together to investigate.

Another fun, quick and entertaining read by Clare Mackintosh - I will be looking out for the next book in this series.Deeply rooted in the glorious Welsh countryside , Ffion is the sparky bilingual cop you didn't know you needed and now she's investigating a death in a reality game show, but is it a game or a trap? A Game of Lies by Clare MacKintosh proves to be a captivating sequel that effortlessly picks up where its predecessor left off.

The author's ability to create a sense of anticipation and mystery is truly commendable, leaving you eager to unravel the secrets hidden within each chapter. So I went back with the audio to help me concentrate better as I was still very interested in the plot and characters.

I also wrote the emotional rollercoaster, After the End: a family drama about an impossible choice that threatens to tear a couple apart. But you have to have read the first book to understand the dynamic between Leo and Ffion and the aftermath of events in book 1. I had to switch to the audiobook version halfway through as I found myself skipping lines to get to something more exciting. Instead of a survival show, they have inadvertently signed up for a exposure show, where you have to win to not having your secrets exposed.
