Black Bush Irish Whiskey combines an exceptionally high amount of malt whiskey married with a lighter grain whiskey and then matured in former Oloroso Sherry and Bourbon casks. You had two small racks of casks that created a small walkway, and in the middle of the walkway, on the floor, displayed 3 old barrels (one that contained bourbon, one for sherry and an old port pipe).

I'm not normally a big fan of Irish whiskey, I prefer Scotch single malt, which, from an Irish man is probably sacrilege but this would be as close to a Scotch as you will get. In its striking bottle with its marmalade orange hues, Bulleit bourbon is high in rye which helps add real spice to its character. A rich, dark, Irish blend, Black Bush contains a high proportion of triple-distilled single malt, aged in Oloroso sherry casks for around 8-10 years before marriage with the grain. A classic Speyside offering, Glenfiddich’s 12 Year Old blend spends time in both American and European oak casks, developing a truly distinguished flavour.

Award winning and becoming more and more popular, Bulleit has a pungent nose awash with orange and oak notes, as well as a hint of smoke and even a little banana. I'm certainly not an expert, but it is by far my favourite Irish, closely followed by Copeland Merchants Quay and Slane all of which are blends and all of which are aged, at some point, in sherry(Oloroso) casks.
