About this deal

From "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Fat Bottom Girls" through to "One Vision" and "I Want It All", this guitar undoubtedly gets you much closer to Brian's tone than any typical Strat or Les Paul. Certainly, it's the closest option if you're chasing a typical bridge humbucker tone but with an appealing raspy edge if you dig in on the lower wound strings. He's okay, he was on Mortimer and Whitehouse's Gone Christmas Fishing program at the end of last year. While the amount of pickup options can seem overwhelming, some are favoured more than others by Brian.

Usually with a new album, even a double, you listen, put it on in the car when travelling, listen again and it sinks in over a period of time. You probably know the specifics – each pick up has its own on/off switch, and in-phase/out-of-phase switch. I'd only known of Chris Rea from "Fool If You Think It's Over" from way back in 1978, when I was in high school, and had, to be honest, forgotten about him since then here in the USA. For every lover of good music and for all guitar aficionados in particular, Blue Guitars is an absolute must. Blue guitars have long been a popular choice for guitarists who want to stand out from the crowd with style. The general feeling of sadness, loss and blues, which is inherent in the Scottish, Irish and Celtic roots anyway, together with an all new instrumentation could lay the basis for a different kind of approach, giving the Blues the typical Celtic feel. I had no idea that he'd released this incredible blues project along with other great blues albums such as "Dancing Down the Stony Road".

In total, Blue Guitars collects no less than 137 songs which themselves are extracted from all the songs Rea wrote for the project. I used to find the same if I bought more than 1 album at once - my attention would be split and I wouldn't get into either one as much as I might have if bought at different times. Audacious commission” hits the nail on the head, I might even add “expansive”—given the license offered to the builders, complete freedom around a unifying theme. The project culminated in an exhibit at the Smithsonian Institute (I attended the event) and a corresponding book. The neck isn't as deeply contoured as Brian's own but it is more substantial than many modern rock axes; with the nut width and neck contour we found it very comfortable to play. Some of the best known versions include Fender's Daphne Blue which has been a firm favourite since the 1960s. During the process of writing and rehearsing the songs with the band over and over until perfect, Chris still finds time for more. Certainly from a distance, they look very similar as regards body shape, pickups, controls and dot arrangement for the 24 frets.
