I don't know anyone who has followed the course from start to end, or even used it as a course at all, so I can't comment on whether the course is any good. I am an avid cook and own many cookbooks but this is still my favourite, so much so that I have purchased it for my future daughter-in-law. My husband likes this book a lot more than I do and is actually mad about it, but this book wasn't meant for him! Bought this one for my eldest son, when he moved to an apartment in college (he was threatening to take my copy). Many of us MANY of us were brought up with the 'knowledge', passed on by parents about cuts of meat and fish cleaning techniques. Delia also gives advice on new and widely available ingredients like easy-blend yeast, filo pastry and fromage frais. We take pride in offering a wide selection of used books, from classics to hidden gems, ensuring there is something for every literary palate.If you were not as lucky to be taught , then this is the best 'surrogate mummy cook' for the nation. And Delia Smith makes the best roast potatoes :) She might not have the media popularity of some of the other TV chef personalities, but she can sure cook and teach.
Her Complete How to Cook was released in 2009 to celebrate 40 years of writing recipes and was voted the Most Useful Cookery Book of All Time. You don't necessarily get the exotic recipes, though there are some, but what you do get is the basis for doing just about everything.The same year she was presented with a BAFTA Special Award in honour of her outstanding contribution to television cookery and services to broadcasting. We know it helped many of our members during the uncertainty of 2020 - never before have we needed the skills and techniques required for basic, good, home-cooked food. It includes recipes for all-time classics like Taramasalata, Flaky Fish Pie, Christmas Pudding, crunchy Roast Potatoes, Boeuf Bourguignonne, Gratin Dauphinois and Rich Bread and Butter Pudding.
