About this deal

I think the main impact came from the fact that it was actually, without being forced down their throats, it was coming from a venue. I forget the name of the group now but he had hair and everything as a young man and he came on the show. Michael began his career as an entertainer on stage for the army and worked his way up with his many shows that encompassed his talent for comedy, in particular, impersonations. R: Clem, of course, was one of STV's Analysisers and had worked with Rikki beforehand in the theatre and he was a straight actor but he had a lovely voice, a lovely voice.

For children, you know, so we did watch very, very carefully what we, the content of the show but we didn't play it down! Cavalcade has been broadcast on at least three other ITV stations, Southern Television: 1966–1967, Westward: 1967–69 and Grampian TV also broadcast the series in the early 1970s and again the early 1980s. It is important that we continue to promote these adverts as our local businesses need as much support as possible during these challenging times. I mean, I remember Macdonald coming to me and then saying, "Your ratings, you've got 89% of viewing figures" and I said, "Oh, I'm sorry about that!

She's now 92 and housebound - but, like her husband, as sharp as a tack - but Michael wouldn't have had it any other way. He became one of the regular cast of STV's first situation comedy, The Adventures of Francie and Josie, which ran over four series from 26 October 1962 to 8 August 1965. I mean one of the personalities that they used to have in STV I thought, in my day, were people like John Toye who was an absolutely wonderful Presenter! That appearance was at the old Paisley Theatre, where he did a comedy spot of his own as part of the bill.

We went out and did Road Shows all round Scotland - different venues, theatres or maybe schools or whatever and that was very, very popular! I think there was a great humour ran through the Company and I think that's why people worked so well. I: Do not take this the wrong way but I always felt approaching the show every time was, everything on that screen has got to look lived-in! The technical storage or access is strictly necessary for the legitimate purpose of enabling the use of a specific service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user, or for the sole purpose of carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network. But over the years as we toured with Jack, we were together for thirteen years and during that tour I was approached by the powers that be in STV and invited to do commercials. But despite having close friends and family, he still found himself experiencing loneliness after the death of his wife Beryl. In 1966, then again from 1970 onwards the show also broadcast on most Christmas and New Year’s Days, until 1989. I: What I'm, I'm trying to think is there something that we haven't really covered that you would like to talk about? Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately from the article and its talk page, especially if potentially libelous.

R: I think the best thing I can say about that is that I think the contribution that STV made in their early days was enormous. From January 1989 – December 1992 the series was reduced to 30 min fixed slot, broadcasting on Sundays at 10:45 am, but on a few occasions was moved to later time slot. I would come back from school and go up to the bedroom in front of a long mirror and would act things I'd seen in the pictures - Humphrey Bogart and such. Working with Jack Milroy for thirteen years, he found himself in the famous Howard and Wyndham's 'Five Past Eight Show' and subsequently starring with Jack Milroy and Rikki Fulton in the 'Francie and Josie' TV shows.
