About this deal

All in all, its a great starter kayak for people who lack the space and time to lug around a 10 ft hard body kayak.

Side note" sometimes when I am alone I bury myself in my neighbors garden and pretend I am a carrot but keep that between us. Every year we end up in a canoe together just ourselves and I end up doing all the work for 4 hours. Lower your kayak from the dock onto the surface of the water, making sure to keep the kayak parallel to the dock. This inflatable kayak measures 312x91x51 cm and has capacity for 2 people with a maximum weight of 180 kg.

You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. The Explorer™ K2 Kayak provides added accessories including two 89″ aluminium oars and an Intex high-output pump for easy inflation and deflation. A grab line and grab handle at each end is provided for your convenience, as well as a repair patch kit. What’s even crazier is that this week marks exactly 6 years since I first bought my two Intex Challenger K1 kayaks*, and I’m very happy to say that they’ve lasted really well and I’m excited to continue using them this summer.

I have bought an Intex Explorer K2 and I inflated it in my living room to be sure it is OK (because it is too cold here to try it on the water for now). I would however makes sure to bring a towel or something to dry the kayak and factor in time to let it sit after wiping (before deflating) to prevent packing it up wet. Transport backpack: only a bag is included, which is intended for storage and short transport of the kayak to the water. You can also keep your kayak from shifting positions by placing either end of the paddle on the kayak and the dock. The boat skin is a simple PVC foil without any reinforcement (such as a polyester core on the inside).Submerge one end of the paddle in the water between your body and the stern (which is the back of the kayak). The Excursion Pro is the most expensive inflatable kayak from Intex but the boat skin is much thicker and it has much more features. I go kayaking with my dad who has a fibreglass kayak and can keep up with no problems in terms of speed and moving around, but all kayaks are different in terms of what they’re designed to do. Packing away is a bit of a pain (but I’d still prefer it than heaving a fibreglass kayak over my head and strapping onto a car!

Compared to higher quality inflatable kayaks, there are huge differences in the roughness of the used material. The Intex Excursion Pro looks quite similar to the Explorer K2 but here there are especially differences regarding material and quality. If you’re concerned about scratching your hull on the ground, move the kayak into the shallow water and climb in there.

However, it’s not hugely supportive, unlike a fibreglass kayak seat, so it might start hurting your back if you’re going out for several hours. Finally, there are hybrid kayaks which are mostly inflatable, but have some frame elements for better hydrodynamics and strength. A big difference between the Intex Explorer K2 and other higher-quality inflatables is the low air pressure that results in very soft air cambers.

Great for experiencing lakes and mild rivers solo, this Sports Series kayak is perfect for two adults. However, the low air pressure compared to higher quality inflatable kayaks or drop-stitch kayaks is noticeable here. This latest Kayak from Intex is a quality boat which is made from a tough material, polyester material coated with PVC. Hold the paddle at its center so that each elbow is at a 90-degree angle, with both hands at an equal distance to their respective ends.
