A guy can't be a Boy Wonder forever," and it seems that everyone understands that, and even Bruce, in the darkest corners of his mind, does too. Emotionally inept Bruce gets scared by Dick's latest brush with death; at least partly, he uses this as an excuse to push Dick away because he doesn't want to be the one who is rejected. I know some aren't a fan of McDaniel's style but I think it works well with acrobatic characters like Nightwing. Dick Grayson is an interesting character; they transitioned him from being Robin because of how the character was being used at the time, but the story reasons for him becoming Nightwing are very interesting and tie back to his need to be a hero.

While writing multiple Punisher and Batman comics (and October 1994's Punisher/Batman crossover), he also found time to launch Team 7 for Jim Lee's WildStorm/Image and Prophet for Rob Liefeld's Extreme Studios.It had its moments every now and then where you can just look at a single panel for a good long time because the craft they put in it, but the panel next to it looks like garbage. I. Joe for IDW, along with many creator-owned projects including Winterworld and Joe Frankenstein which re-unites him with Bane co-creator Graham Nolan. He also wrote many issues of Catwoman and Green Arrow , regularly having about seven titles out each and every month between the years 1993 and 1998. I think it would have been better if more time was taken to show the tensions between Bruce/Batman and Dick and flesh out his journey a bit more rather than breezing through and telling us a few details. Given Wally's mentor, it's not a shocker he'd be so congenial, but given Dick's, his nice guy routine is more of a surprise.

In the introduction to this graphic novel we are told that Dick Grayson served as Robin for 10 years, Batman is now onto his fourth Robin he must be almost 60! Like, I'm not entirely sure how old Dick is here but the next thing we see, he's bunking in a motel because he's broke. In this tale of growth, we see Dick's transformation into Nightwing and some fantastic guest stars showing how they helped Grayson on his journey.Scott also revamped the classic Charlton Comics character SON OF VULCAN for DC, co-engineered the epic JOKER'S LAST LAUGH crossover event, and wrote BATMAN: GOTHAM KNIGHTS for 17 issues. Nightwing: Year One is a storyline written by Chuck Dixon and Scott Beatty, with art by Scott McDaniel.
