I was surprised that a chunk of the storyline is about a brain tumour – that’s not mentioned in any of the blurb I’d read – and, unfortunately, I know quite a lot of people who are involved in their own brain tumour issues at the moment – and this could easily blindside them. Which why now is NOT the time for a delicious new man to show up, her best friend to demand the hen do of the century and a surprise celebrity appearance .

The best parts of Oh My God, What a Complete Aisling are probably also what limit its audience: its sharp, warm dissection of a particular kind of culture clash between rural and urban Ireland. This book is written with such a huge amount of warm, Irish wit that it is so easy to immerse yourself in Aisling's life and you quickly feel like you have become one of the family. And so we started sharing our Aislingisms: "Aisling loves a good wake"; "Aisling has never hidden from the television licence inspector"; "Aisling knows the Weight Watchers points in everything".
