About this deal

We have a demisexual character, a bisexual character, a gay character and more and I was just here for all of it!

Just the same as Carys, and you’ve managed to fuck up the only thing I had, the only good thing I fucking have, just like you managed to fuck up Carys’s. On the day of Frances' and Daniel's Cambridge interviews, their friend Raine skips school to drive them, and they all reflect on the purpose of the education system and on why Aled might be refusing to talk to them. It’s no small feat and I really appreciated the idea of a character that’s good at school but also has a very creative streak. Anyway, rant aside, I don’t see enough good friendship stories around, and ‘Radio Silence’ satisfies my need for one. The ace spectrum is something I find so rarely in books so I was very excited and happy when we got demi rep in here. It's one of those books I kinda think should be gone into without knowing too much because I think the brilliant thing about it is how much depth it has underneath it's surface. So in this book we follow Frances, a studying machine who is a huge fangirl of a podcast (for a podcast? I also loved that in this book not all the characters needed to be in a relationship or have a love interest by the end of the book!

XD Also the distinction between “School Frances” and “Normal Frances “ was amazing and very relatable.

She tries to continue about her life after this and she tries to contact Aled again but he doesn't reply. Because school isn’t for everyone, and college isn’t for everyone, but validity and acceptance are for everyone.

The parallels are endless, and I’m not here to be negative about Fangirl, but I only thought that story was okay, where Radio Silence touched my heart and spoke to my soul. Rain a friend of Frances is Indian and last but not least there’s Carys – Aled’s sister – who is a lesbian. That said, [and it was great to catch up with Aled again although the circumstances were not so great. The novel begins when one day, Frances receives a message from the creator of Universe City asking her to become the new Universe City artist.

Nobody knew who made the podcast, but it was the voice of the narrator that got me addicted to the show – it has a kind of softness. I’m outraged and furious about this behaviour from a person that should lover her child unconditionally!People forget you within days, they take new pictures to put on Facebook and they don't read your messages. Secondly, I hadn’t really spoken to any of my school friends apart from Raine very recently, and I think if we were in The Sims, our friendship bar would almost be back to nothing. And yet I still somehow ended up listening to this next song on repeat because I'm obsessed with Phillipa Soo's voice. Oseman lets readers meet Aled through Frances, the main character and narrator here, whose world, worries, art, and ambitions drive the narrative forward.
