I am a serious amateur photographer, and this is my honest and unbiased review of the Canon EOS 500D Twin Lens Kit. The image is displayed on the rear screen and focusing can be achieved manually or by the three AF modes featured in LiveView. A display on the screen gives two sliders – one for background sharpness and one for the overall brightness – essentially controlling the aperture and shutter, while flash and drive modes can still be set manually. The Canon DSLR 500D with it's huge CMOS sensor and it's capability to take HD Video will take some beating!

Repel - Anti-static technologies, including a special fluorine coating, are applied to the low-pass filter covering the front of the sensor so as not to attract dust. Just like the 5D Mark II, video recording on the EOS 500D is not the most user-friendly experience, with no handy one-touch recording, painfully slow autofocus that can't keep up with the action, inability to change the aperture or shutter speed, and the inherent handling quirks of the DSLR format. Creative auto provides the same control as the regular creative modes but in a simplified form to allow new users to experiment with ease.You have to set the Mode Dial to the Movie mode, then the AF-On button to set the focus, then press the Live View button on the rear of the camera to begin recording (with the same button ending the movie). Thanks to the combination of a Canon CMOS sensor and DIGIC 4 processing, Canon is able to offer Full HD resolution movie recording in a digital SLR camera. In more contrasting light conditions it does have a tendency to overexpose slightly, and is therefore best to stop down by up to one stop before shooting. First featured on the more expensive 50D model, this mode is targeted at beginners who have grown out of using the Full Auto mode, allowing you to change a few key settings using the LCD screen, with a simple slider system for changing the aperture and exposure compensation, or Background and Exposure as the camera refers to them.Canon’s CMOS technology is one of the company’s key competitive advantages, with noise reduction circuitry at each pixel site delivering virtually noise-free images. This feature really does seem to make a difference and could mean capturing a successful, sharp shot or missing the opportunity altogether. The Canon EOS 500D offers both Raw and Jpeg files which share the same softness to them from the default settings – but once processed the results are crisp.
