About this deal

The Distinta Flair collection is truly unique just like those that select it to grace their worktop. With its sophisticated metallic grey finish and chrome detailing, this De’Longhi Distinta 4-Slice Toaster already has a lot going for it. The handy extra lift position makes it simple to retrieve smaller slices of bread or crumpets without the risk of burnt fingers.

The only downside is the size, which we're happy to live with when we’re looking at such a great all-rounder. The levers are nicely finished with chrome tops and the action is nice and crisp, but it’s nothing to get excited about.

Variable browning controlsOffering six shades of brown via the progressive browning controls, everyone’s toast can be done just how they like it – and because the controls can be adjusted independently of each other, you can toast two different shades at once.

The De’Longhi Distinta looks great and it’s not a bad toaster, but a number of small issues add up to tarnish it in my eyes.Making two slices of perfect toast using thick white-sliced Hovis took a little longer than I’d expect at two minutes and 42 seconds, using also a slightly above-average 0. Pictured here in its copper finish, it’s both matt and metallic at the same time, so it looks sleek but doesn’t pick up fingerprints easily. Our range of support options ensure you experience an easy and hassle free process when you need to talk to us about your Product Care ™ plan. Whether you are experiencing a fault, or wanting to redeem your entitlements, we will provide you with guidance and support every step of the way. With the Distinta Flair Toaster by De’Longhi, you can control six different settings to ensure a perfect slice every time.

Speaking of lift, there’s no lift-and-peek feature here, so you can’t check on the progress of your toast. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). The slots are well-sized with a good length, width and depth, so you should be able to get some chunky breads in. The styling is so overengineered that the controls look less like a toaster and more like the dashboard of a vintage car. The toast itself was still tasty stuff, but I did notice that certain bites were less crispy than others. There’s a little additional lift at the top to help get out smaller items, but it’s only around 10mm.

Underneath is the usual space for keeping your cable neat and tidy, and the cable itself is a standard 65cm long. Founded in the early twentieth century in Treviso, De’Longhi are an Italian engineering company famous for their stylish and high-quality home appliances. It has a brushed metal exterior that doesn’t end up covered in fingerprints and then chrome on top around the slots. We tested the silver model, but it’s also available in black, white, bronze, glamour red and prestige blue, making it suitable for most kitchen designs.

There’s a cable tidy on the underside but you’re unlikely to use it because the cable is so short – if you’re plugging in to the right then you get 70cm, but 60cm to the left and a measly 50cm at the back. Even better, its browning is nice and even across each slice, on all types of bread, and as close to identical on each side as we’ve seen. However, a four-slot design like this isn’t as flexible as a model with two long slots, which can then take a whole pitta lying down or a whole slice from the middle of a big round loaf.
