About this deal

While the picture quality of this film has some serious issues, I can recommend this movie on the strength of its content. Fast Track Frivolity Makes Elf Even More Festive As Glimpses of the Movie's Magical Making Pop Up While You Watch the Movie.

detail also enjoy a nice bump, allowing us to enjoy its stray darker moments as well as a wide range of appealing gradients. Audio Commentaries -- are a pair of audio commentaries, one with director Jon Favreau and a second with actor Will Ferrell.

If you are in Australia or New Zealand (DVD Region 4), note that almost all DVDs distributed in the UK by the BBC and 2entertain are encoded for both Region 2 and Region 4. Greater presence, fuller tones, more distinct stereo separation, and a slight volume boost lend the mix a more immersive feel, and bass frequencies wield more power, especially during the climax when Santa's turbo-charged sleigh makes several aborted lift-off attempts. And while not as severe as on the DVD, brief pulses of artifacting, and small slivers of edge enhancement can faintly be seen, but you have to look for it. So one special December, Buddy sets off on a holiday adventure to New York City in quest of his real dad. The blazing reds of Santa's sleigh, the Etch-a-Sketch frames, the elves' outfits, and the sweatsuit of the Santa lookalike on the street are breathtaking, as are Buddy's green wool jacket and gold tights, the gleaming yellow taxis, and the fabricated blue sky in the animated sequences.

His deadpan facial expressions and droll line deliveries raise the laugh quotient exponentially and set the madcap tone of Elf, which wouldn't be nearly as memorable without his participation. Elf checks all those boxes and has been a favorite of my family ever since it premiered back in 2003.Ladies, if you want a man with a sense of humor and a Blu-ray player, this Elf movie is your answer. Thus begins Buddy's quest to connect with his father, win the affections of a special girl, bring a family back together, and save the spirit of Christmas. As a stranger in a strange land (and could there be any stranger land for a sheltered man-child than the Big Apple?

John Debney's film score is well recorded, and spread nicely across the frontal soundstage, extending fairly deep towards the front wall, and spilling into the surrounds as well. It seems some remastering has been performed, and the result is a lusher, sleeker picture with less grain that still maintains a film-like feel.It would be easy to dismiss ‘Elf’ as a fairly formulaic family flick (which wouldn't be far from the truth), but to do so would be to overlook a holiday gem that manages to surpass the sappy conventions of its subgenre with quick wit, inventive physical comedy, and a slew of loveable characters. Not only is the palette strong and steady, contrast is spot on, and black levels are deep (albeit uneven at times). The 2008 Blu-ray disc and a leaflet that contains the Movies Anywhere digital copy code are tucked inside the front cover. Papa Elf tells Buddy who his real mother and father are, explains his mother death, and his father's current location.

However there is not much output below 40hz on this track, so do not expect your sub to shimmy across the floor. Buddy's child-like wonder, boundless seasonal enthusiasm, insatiable appetite for sugar, and genuine warmth make him an irresistible character, and Ferrell plays him with just the right mix of goofiness and sincerity. I would even go so far as to say director Jon Favreau (‘Iron Man,’ ‘Zathura’) has made a near-perfect family film in that it will appeal to both children and adults. I found myself laughing at the more involved humor in the film and even enjoying the more clichéd sight gags that sent him into fits of laughter. When the sweet-as-a-sugarplum but hopelessly naive Buddy (Will Ferrell) discovers his human heritage, he ventures to New York City to track down his long-lost father (James Caan), an unscrupulous children's book publisher who not only doesn't know Buddy exists, but who's also - horrors! Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). Audio track isn't exactly the same as its earlier counterpart; remember, new 4K masters often make a difference in overall sonic fidelity as well.
