As someone with various interests that lead to lots of paperwork, a family that generates too many bills, a job often done from home that also leads to print outs and invoices, this device is moving me towards a paperless home office. As of mid 2022 I understood no driver was available to match the S1500 scanner with then current Mac OS. ScanSnap S1500 has several automatic features to help ensure scans look their best without operator intervention before or after they scan. I'm using a Brother All-in scanner which I bought 3 years ago and whilst its scanning software is not bad it's much slower and has way less options than VueScan. As I said above, the document feeder has inherent limitations of thickness, but during the weeks that I have used the ScanSnap, it worked for the overwhelming majority of documents.

A compact sheetfed scanner, the ScanSnap S1500 is both quick and able to cope with a variety of documents from business cards upwards. The machine doesn't really like that old flimsy thermal fax paper but otherwise is trouble free and easy to both set up and use.
