About this deal

Bir’s answer makes sense, but the reason decoding loaf pan sizes is complicated is because we shouldn’t be mixing weight and volume measurements. As seen in the picture above, a cup of water and a cup of sugar and a cup of oil weigh different amounts because they have different densities. Once baked, the two lips at either end of the tin were easy to grip while wearing oven gloves, making it easy to remove from the oven. Having had a look at the tins, the two-pound tin looks about right and the one-pound tins maybe a little too small.

We scooped out about three tablespoons of the batter as we were concerned the cake would overflow when baked. The lack of lip made turning the cake out a little bit of a fiddly process, yet it slipped out of the tin easily with no sticking at all. There is a small chance that the cake batter has too much leavening in it (in the loaf cakes this is bicarbonate of soda/baking soda, which is very active), causing the cake to rise excessively in the oven and overflow from the tin.The cake itself was fluffy, spongy and moist inside, with even and consistent browning around the outside. com/recipes/6855/marble-chocolate-loaf here], which I thought would fill my "1lb cos it holds 1 litre" loaf pan twice, fills my tin to about 1. Not the cheapest tins about but my oldest ones are now over a year old and have seen 5-days a week usage with no signs of any damage/wear, etc. Constructed of high grade steel with a non stick coating inside and out, that helps to ensure great cooking and cleaning results, this 1lb Loaf Tin is built to last.

tin sizes are often in 'pounds', recipes in kg, tins taper towards the bottom so do you measure the top or half way down, I make a loaf every few days and stick to amounts and a tin that, after lots of test, works. The most common reason for any cake batter overflowing from the cake tin (pan) is that the wrong size of tin has been used. You can also use loaf tins as moulds: for sweet and savoury terrines, including this chocolate and raspberry terrine or a nougat terrine with caramel sauce.
