Upon establishing his foundation in Berlin in 2003, Helmut Newton expressed his wish to provide a forum not only for his own works, but for that of other photographers as well. Helmut Newton is represented by original prints in various formats from the three key genres of fashion, portraiture, and nudes. The 50 featured photographs center on the naked body, alternately exploring and pushing the traditions and boundaries between sex, gender identity, and fashion. The main focus is on the featured artists works and their craftsmanship across genres, techniques and choice of medium, ranging widely from nude photography to amazing street art. A special highlight are previously unseen photographs shot in the Testino studio , in which an exuberant atmosphere intermingles with the implicit frisson of nudity and where playfully amorous dynamics never slip into the obscene or pornographic.His solo exhibitions have shown in museums and galleries worldwide, including the National Portrait Gallery, London; and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. That means equal undressing rights for all, with full frontals, male and female, to enticing back views, moments of amorous play and erotic accessorizing to more abstract body landscapes. A further exhibition, Jean Pigozzi: Pool Party, is also on display and features snaps from the 80s and 90s of VIPs like Naomi Campbell, Mick Jagger and Bono sunning themselves poolside at Pigozzi’s house.

Looming over 10 feet from the ceiling to the walls' lower wood moldings, and spanning sometimes 23 feet in width, the photos aim to explore "the physical notion of undressing through work that analyses the boundaries between fashion, eroticism, anatomy and art, as well as a metaphorical undressing of Mario Testino that goes beyond the public perception," said the foundation in a release on the show. Coinciding with an exhibition conceived exclusively for the Helmut Newton Foundation in Berlin, this intimate series explores the notion of undressing in photography as much as it lays Testino’s archive bare, probing beyond the photographer’s established public image to reveal a deeper understanding of his practice and oeuvre. Throughout his career he built unprecedent relationships with editorial and commercial partners such as Vogue, Burberry, and Gucci to name a few.
