About this deal

As long as they are well fed, growing and happy, then you’re doing great! What if eat play sleep is not working? NO IT ISN'T SLEEP TRAINING - couldn't be further from it, we've actually worked with Charmain in person and to be honest she doesn't actually talk about sleep, ever. Sleep is just a consequence of the other stuff. Sleep for a baby just happens when the rest of the stuff is in place. So please don't let people put you off by saying you can't sleep train a baby. You're not trying to. We have a 4 week old baby, and she sleeps, a lot, calmly and contentedly (mostly, not every single sleep but 80%-90%)

Your baby taking all the calorie intake she needs – whether that’s milk or eating solid foods – in the day.

My Story

The routine element of sleeping, feeding awake time and allowing for a 'pause' when your baby cries is accurate and affirming to those unsure of how to proceed in those tough moments. This routine also helps to avoid entirely the issue of one parent in the spare room whilst mum and baby are up all night. So you can watch some Netflix and have a glass of wine with eachother ! If your baby is going through a growth spurt it’s possible they will also want to cluster feed in the evenings if they are breastfed. Maybe they woke up and wouldn’t take their full feed, then spent their entire “play” time on and off the bottle before falling asleep without finishing it. Create a relaxing environment with lavender-infused baths, dimmed lights, and calming massages. Allowing time for your baby to wind down before sleep is crucial. Introducing a comforter, like a soft blanket or toy, helps associate bedtime with comfort. Once attached to the comforter, it becomes a consistent sleep companion, effective from 5 months onward.

As adults we house a gut full of microbes, friendly bacteria which aid digestion and work to support the immune system, however babies are born with no gut bacteria and are exposed to their first dose through the vaginal canal, babies born by Caesarean section miss out on this flush of bacteria. Clever breast milk then delivers prebiotics to feed and support these helpful bacteria, where as formula fed babies miss out on this process. The good news is that over the next few weeks, these wake-ups should start to reduce to around one a night. First of all it’s important not to let this schedule rule your life. It’s only worth doing if it makes your life easier! Formula is a heavier feed and takes longer to digest so might help sustain your baby’s appetite through the night more than breast milk. Yes! Some babies can naturally fall into a pattern of sleeping well at night and focus better at feeding and staying awake during the day, says Charmian.Note that this baby sleep training method is not suitable for newborns, the 7 pm to 7 am Sleeping Baby Routine ( suitable from birth to weaning ) is NOT sleep training; it’s a comprehensive approach that ensures your newborn’s needs are met during daylight hours, creating optimal conditions for nighttime sleep. Sleep happens naturally as part of a daily routine to support digestion and growth. Whether you are breastfeeding, bottle-feeding or a bit of both - and even if you have twins - Charmian's approach will make sure your baby stays awake and playful during the day and not at night! Read more Details Charmian says: ‘You can encourage your baby to naturally drop the night feed by focusing on her digestion. By this, I mean winding frequently and effectively.
