About this deal

You could just use a RPi as a headless network/audio endpoint rather than a full blown streamer with it's own app or web interface. Although that would require you to stream directly to it from a phone or laptop (via AirPlay / Bluetooth / DLNA / RAAT / Spotify Connect / LMS Squeezebox protocol etc.) or have some software running elsewhere ie. on a NAS, that you could do that job and that you could control remotely.

I‘m sure there are much better streamers out there, able to improve massively on my set up - I don’t dispute that. Probably, though, I’m never going to get to hear them and even then, I would probably still opt to spend additional cash on other items of hi fi kit. I know there is one manufacturer that claims 75R on the cable (I think its canari cables) but still your connectors will be 50R thus defeating your cable impedance.Galvanic isolation would have been the best solution for coupling the card with DAC (floating circuit, non interference distribution), but the choice is to use digital isolation. Normal, it miss some space and will give some jitters problem. In this choice, your are electrical coupled with the DAC. So, if you don’t want to send some noise to your DAC, you must take a particular attention to have a clean signal to send without pollute the other part. It is why the power stage is so developed on all part of the card. On look and feel, the Allo offering is slightly more pleasing than the JustBoom solution. It’s heavier too and therefore less conducive to mounting to the rear of an active loudspeaker. So if you want a leftfield idea, in a quirky looking product, and to get maximum performance instead of conventional streamers, it’s definitely Allo Allo with the DigiOne Signature. Just make sure you use the correct power supply combination. Very recommended and it achieves the 13th Note for the money! Manufacturer

In our quest for digital perfection, we asked how we can improve the design and give you the ultimate DigiOne.

If you’re DAC possesses a SPDIF digital input, RCA or BNC one, and you would like to experiment with digital signal cleaning but you find USB regenerators and the use of two USB cables expensive and/or cumbersome – then Allo DigiOne could be an affordable alternative that being a HAT and not the external device requires only one digital cable. But don’t get filled by its affordable price (compared to most similar devices), this little HAT offers a very noticeable sound improvement over Pi’s USB outs (and the result would be the same if you compare it to USB outs of most PCs).

The second fatality is TOSLINK. According to Allo engineers, “[TOSLINK] by definition has a jitter of 4ns. That’s 4000ps”and “[it] had to go”. On the DigiOne we note coaxial and BNC outputs. iFi nano iUSB3.0 is another USB regenerator that used to cost 2.5 times more then Schiit Wyrd and Allo DigiOne. It certainly works better than Wyrd and it really improves your USB signal. But remember, now you need two USB cables and that increases the cost one more time. Conclusion If I get bored, I will grab an Allo Boss and see how it compare. I have Piano 2.1 without Kali - use in You want the Allo DigiOne Signature with different music systems. No problem. Allo recommended me one called Volumio, a free open source music player managed through a web interface. This comes preconfigured on the micro SD card which Allo do for you before you buy.

What you see on BNC is the right implementation as per the standards. 75Ohm all the way since cables and connectors are designed that way.

months ago, I didn’t have a streamer. I’d always wanted to “do something” with a Raspberry Pi (being reasonably IT literate) but never got round to it. Deciding I could use it as a streamer was the justification I needed.Whilst it’s hard to imagine a JustBoom owner being disappointed by the sound of the Digi HAT, if you’re able to stretch your budget, the Allo DigiOne board delivers disproportionately more of the good stuff.
