Skylines and Turnstiles, 8/10- I don't really understand why people do not like this song too much... I think it is a very deep and terrific song to be honest. I think Gerard did a good job on this one, considering it's his first song he ever wrote. ...Though to be fair he has improved much more. By the way it ain't my favorite. But I do like it.Manley, Brendan (February 26, 2016). "Worst to First: Every My Chemical Romance Album Ranked". Diffuser. The first hint of things to come was the blood-splattered debut album, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, which turns 20 this Saturday. Its title came from a short story Gerard had written in one of the many notebooks strewn about his bedroom in the pre-MCR days; the eldest song, “Skylines and Turnstiles,” came to life roughly one week after 9/11. By the end of the first verse on the original demo, Gerard works himself to a scream: “If the world needs something better, let’s give them one more reason NOW, NOW, NOOOW!” I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love is often regarded as a concept album. It involves two Bonnie and Clyde-esque characters who are eventually gunned down in the desert. On My Chemical Romance's next album, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge (2004), the unnamed man supposedly then finds himself in purgatory, where he makes a deal with Satan: his hellbound lover for the souls of a thousand evil men. He is then resurrected and sent on his gruesome task. [20] Though it is generally accepted by the group's core fanbase, this has led some to attribute its supposed existence to over-analysis on the part of hardcore fans. [21] The alleged storyline is not confirmed by the band, but some evidence includes: British album certifications – My Chemical Romance – I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love". Fifteen years ago, a scruffy band of punks emerged from Newark, New Jersey, armed with an album that would change the scene forever. That band was My Chemical Romance, and their debut LP, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, was the first step in a musical career unlike anything we’d ever seen before. Sherman, Maria (September 30, 2014). "Which Gerard Way Are You?". Fuse. "My Chemical Romance's first album, 'I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love,' was their first before reaching mega-fame. It was abrasive, dark and fully screamo". After all these eight months of hard work for this CD, I finally have it in my hands. I am actually listening to it right now. :P This CD is such a good CD, it is so sad that it goes for a really high price now. Anyway, I'm now gonna rate the songs. :P Early Sunsets Over Monroeville, 10/10- One of my other favorites on this album, I love how deep the lyrics get when you get even farther into the song, it starts so happy sounding, then... It gets somewhat morbid. I love it. :Pthere's a certain youthful quality to gerard (25 at the time)'s voice, a vulnerability that's really effective (see 'vampires will never haunt you') as well as those excellent banshee screams. The video for “Honey…” is pretty unsettling and follows a storyline inspired by 1999 Japanese horror film Audition, in which a man interviews a series of women with the hopes of finding a wife, before one of the women tortures him and cuts off his foot. Sounds lovely, doesn’t it? It makes sense as the inspiration for the video, though, as Gerard Way and co. have often spoken of their love for the horror genre. 3. “Vampires Will Never Hurt You” Demolition Lovers, 10/10- One of my other favorites! The lyrics are so deep, and it's got a lot of emotion and feeling to it. Dusting 'Em Off: My Chemical Romance - Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge". Consequence of Sound. June 8, 2014.
