About this deal

Bottom line, the tuning of the IE200 is fantastic. It seems to play well with every genre I threw at it. There was never any sibilance or other harshness even at higher volumes. With excellent build quality, supreme comfort, and a fantastic sonic performance for the money, the Sennheiser IE200 is an excellent entry-level IEM. They don’t punch too far above their weight, so as not to tread on the firm’s pricier IEM offerings, but have a more intimate presentation than what many Asian alternatives (affectionately known as ChiFi in certain headphone enthusiast circles) deliver. Honestly first impression were less than favorable. Kind of funny , I normally use in a portable set up first but because the IE200 only comes with a Single Ended - Non balanced option and my sources and cables were very limited. I started off on the desk with the AKM J2 and Topping A90D. Unlike the IE600, the IE200 only comes with one cable (3.5mm). It’s different from the newer Sennheiser IEMs. It is a thin braded cable. It has a nice feel to it and is resistant to tangles.

Final E tips – Now comes the final E tips on the recommendation of a beloved friend, the first impression was underwhelming TBH as I thought I was getting the best with foam tips however with the final E tips I was getting LetShouer S12 vibes on ie200 because of the spicy treble and overpowering bass. Gave it a few days and these have become the new normal, I have been switching between E tips and foam for a change, final E tips are good if you want to make the sound a little more V.Sennheiser’s IE series has been quite the powerhouse in the world of IEMs. The new IE 200 is the latest set of earphones from them that made a big impression on me, even more impressive when you see the price. Its strongest comparison would be the IE 300, Sennheiser’s former iteration of a budget-fi IEM that is now off the market. Of course, there are still ways to get the IE 300, but the new IE 200 is meant to be the logical upgrade to the IE 300, but there will always be specific characteristics that some will prefer. Here are some of the differences and similarities you can expect from the IE 200 and IE 300. What You Get Imaging and Sound Stage: Decent instrument separation mostly only left and right because of the moderate sound stage. Sennheiser has been on a big refresh of their in-ear monitor line-up over the last 18 months or so with the latest, the IE 200 being launched earlier this year. With the IE 200 Sennheiser is featuring their dual-tuneable ear tips. Basically, this means that you can tune the bass presentation depending on how you place the tip on the nozzle. When you place the tip more to the front, the bass presentation is lighter as you can see in the image below. Does the dual tuning work? Yes. Is it easy to use in reality? Not in my case, but maybe your ears are different.

In the bass-boosted profile, the treble is smoothly rolled-off with a subtle boost near 15kHz to add some air into the mix. Comfort: IE 200 comfort level is the same as all IE Series high end of 300,600 & 900. Thanks to the R&D Team of Sennheiser for making the IE series more comfortable than ever given by other IEMs.

How does the Sennheiser IE 200 sound?

The Sennheiser IE 200 represents an open invitation for everyone to enjoy high-end sound,” says Jermo Koehnke, Sennheiser Audiophile Product Manager. “With balanced, true-to-life audio reproduction, users will be able to hear the details that they’ve been missing in ordinary headphones.” I understand that “ordinary” here stands for non-audiophile (level) consumer IEMs and headphones, as the IE 200 is aimed at the whole market. Manageability: Cisco Catalyst Center software, Auto SmartPort, Web Device Manager, Telnet, HTTPS access, SNMP, CNA, and Cisco Prime Infrastructure. The earphones, as you can see in the pictures, come in a simple Sennheiser branded box. While it looks like the other IE series boxes, it is a simpler version of it. The box nicely displays the IE 200 and the cable, but it’s actually a very simple box. Looking at the price the IE 200 is going for, this does make sense.

What makes my ears happy as a sound signature is a slightly more aggressive L shape. I love my Bass Sub and Mid Bass love it all actually; and in large quantity. With the Bass, I prefer a faster decay the faster the better so as to not bleed into the mids., I am treble sensitive and prefer a slightly darker warmer replay with good treble extension.

More positives are that the soundstage is easily coherent and described with width, more so than the similarly priced Letshuoer S12 Pro. There are good levels of detail and clarity – if there is any distortion, I haven’t heard any. We’ve of course featured and reviewed many Sennheiser products here on HFN. My personal favorite Sennheiser headphones are the HD 800 S, the HD 650 (on tubes) and the HD 660S. My most used Sennheiser IEM is the IE 900.Couldn’t test the advertised dual tuning modes as the ear tips would go all the way through when inserted in the ear canals.
