Huge speakers play music louder and create additional bass, which makes the sound more vibrant and bold. If we compare drivers of both speakers as mentioned earlier, Kanto YU6’s tweeters and woofers are bigger than those of Audioengine A5.Moving on to some digital music, I cued up Ariana Grande's hit single " Side to Side" on Google Music, streamed to the YU6s via Bluetooth. Straight away, the YU6 dished out a big, bold, energetic performance. As advertised, the Edifier R2000DB is being marketed for just about anything audio-related. There is a high-quality 5-inch woofer that outputs respectable bass and a 1-inch silk ‘eagle eye’ tweeter that delivers clear mids and highs. It is reluctant to connect to both an Essential PH-1 and iPad Pro, and the performance is periodically affected by stutters and drop outs. I’m not sure why this is the case, but reboots and re-pairing don’t seem to completely eliminate it, which is disappointing given expectations with this kind of connectivity.You don’t want to be in a situation when your new fancy speaker can’t fit in your car or requires a lot of effort to move. If there’s no way around the weight and size, keep an eye out for stands and wheels that may be included to assist with transport. The most immediately apparent aspect of the performance is that the claimed power output on tap feels believable in use and imbues the Kanto with impressive levels of headroom for a fairly affordable product. The gorgeously emotive and atmospheric Soft To Be Strong by Marina has a level of heft to it that is more than simple bass weight. Vocals are carried with their full weight and power and the supporting piano feels equally well judged in terms of scale. Loudness does not correlate to a great-sounding speaker. If a manufacturer claims their powered speaker can reach high volumes, you should proceed with caution considering the Total Harmonic Distortion. Total Harmonic Distortion, also known as THD, measures how well a speaker can interpret your music and then reproduce it without distortion. A THD level below 0.5 – 1% is considered good, while anything above 5% will sound audibly bad to most people.
