About this deal

If you’re very thorough and shave your legs, abdomen, armpits, and chest and do a bit of manscaping as well, you probably won’t be able to do it on a single charge. In my opinion this alone would be enough to choose it over other Bodygroom models. Performance review Finally, you can completely shave the hair by using the foil. It works just like a regular foil shaver and does a pretty good job. So the shaving head of the Norelco Bodygroom 7000 is very versatile and you can use it how you see fit. This was the most obvious improvement when first using the BG7030. The comb attachment itself also feels a lot more solid and durable.

If Philips will release a newer iteration of this Bodygroom 7000 line with a lower minimum hair length setting, that one will be a clear winner, at least in my book. Using the Bodygroom 7000 in the shower The trimmer end of the tool also works perfectly well. We would have liked the option to trim to 1 or 2mm rather than starting all the way at 3mm, but still - along with the foil end it provides a good balance of trimming options. So if you want to trim the hair basically at skin level but without actually shaving it, you can do just that. This can be great for shaving under the arms or the groin area as those can be very sensitive. For example, if you trim the hair on your legs, arms, stomach and genitals, that grooming session will easily stretch for at least 40 minutes. Finally, we functionally put the units to work and considered their main use case/want: body hair trimming. Would these do the job? Would they do the job without pain? Would there be enough flexibility to give most people their preferred hair length? All of these considerations factored into our overall winners. The bottom line / long-term notesIt’s a lot more important than in the case of a regular electric shaver since a session will usually take a much longer time. After evaluating the many use cases and functions for each of these units, and continuing to use the winner for 12 months, we’re confident the Philips Bodygroom is still the best option for most people looking for a hair trimmer exclusively. It has great battery life, versatility, and is also significantly easier to use than its counterparts. The cost isn’t bad, but when considering the singular use case, it’s on the slightly high side. But it does that single task very well. Since this is a hybrid groomer, combining the functionality of a shaver and a trimmer, we’ll evaluate each of them separately. Shaving BG7030/49— this is the basic bundle that only includes the groomer; it’s also the model we’ll be testing in this review;

Also, due to the design of the charging mechanism, you have to make sure that the trimmer is firmly placed into the stand; otherwise it won’t charge. More on this in the next section. Battery life and charging The Bodygroom on the other hand clearly understood the main problems and concerns of the activity and solved all of them with their two-sided trimmer, one of which is great for trimming chest hair to whatever length you specify, and the other that’s good for trimming any to-the-skin area you might want without causing cuts or scrapes. Better yet, the two-sided design means less attachment swapping/finding, which could cut down on potential misplaced parts that you may incur with the other units you might be considering. After rinsing, shake the excess water and pat the groomer dry with a towel. And that’s about it. Shaving performance The Mangroomer took last in our tests but had an okay runtime overall if you consider it’ll mostly be used on only one area. The motor is adequately powerful and you could definitely use it to shave your entire body. I tend to get quite a nasty folliculitis if I shave my legs, arms or chest, so I only use the adjustable trimmer of the body groomer on those areas.Whether you opt for the BG7030 or the BG7040, the groomers themselves are absolutely identical and the only differences are related to the included accessories. With the BG7040/42, Philips will throw in a travel case and an extra shaving head, so you may want to consider that one if the price is right.
