About this deal

How? Why? When? Who? What? Reinforce key words in the story (such as moon, spaceship) and items in the bag. Maurice is a caterpillar who Stella finds on a plant that Pootle has given her in the episode Maurice.

For me it has been hugely satisfying to be able to widen the scope of what I have been trying to do in the field of children’s books. TV is a much more collaborative process than publishing. Working with Ben and Annette has allowed me to work with people I like and respect towards the common goal of creating a high quality, narrative based children’s TV series. Offer tools and materials for the children to make their own instruments, for example, metal and card drums, cardboard tubes, plastic and cardboard boxes, tape, rubber bands, string. Model and demonstrate skills and ideas.Display the poster (provided with the book) in the book area to promote further discussion about the story and moon party. Offer role-play equipment such as picnic rug or tablecloth, plates, cups, party food, party hats, paper and pens.

Some people create characters and shows purely to entertain, whereas others want to teach children something. Did you have specific aims when making Q Pootle 5 as a TV series? Space is exciting and intriguing to people. The series has diverse, strong stories and rich nuanced characters that people can identify with. There is a lot of fun and laughter in the series and some very tender moments too, which all seem to really resonate with children and parents. This project, based on the story, offers an exciting stimulus and opportunities for children to make links across provision and connections in all areas of learning. Play alongside the children, making up recipes for party food and talking about Q Pootle 5's moon party. Q Pootle 5 is a fun and exciting show with friendship at its heart. It taps into the world of young children where imagination always trumps reality!

Diaries & Calendars

Unfortunately, I'm kind of disappointed with this one - and it's not really the book's fault - but it no longer sits right with the TV series.

Use open questioning to challenge children's thinking. Encourage them to talk about their ideas and to plan their response to Q Pootle 5's note. Speaking for myself and for my wife Annette, who is also deeply involved in the production process, I can say that it has been a real pleasure. We each have individual strengths and areas of responsibility. But we also have a certain amount of overlap. suggests ways to enhance areas of core provision to consolidate children's learning about the theme. It is the practitioner's role to observe children's learning daily to inform individual children's Profiles and future planning. Children should be encouraged to use available resources to support their own learning, so the possible learning outcomes will be wide-ranging and varied for each child. Ray is a blue major bird. He lives with Stella, and can sometimes be a bit grumpy. He has a fear of heights, and an intense dislike of Stella's bagpipes. Attach the bag of objects to the stone with string and tie on a note from Q Pootle 5: 'Dear all, I am having a lovely time with my friends on the moon. Hope you can join us. Love from Q Pootle 5.'Explain that the stone was found in the nursery garden this morning and that the bag and note were attached to it. Q Pootle 5 is an animated series set in space, on a planet called Okidoki. It follows the adventures of a group of loveable alien friends. The show feels to me like the children’s TV I grew up loving, such as Mr Benn and The Wombles, as it is very character driven.
