About this deal

There was also some beautiful prose hidden between lots of action. (I wish there was more time to breathe around some of these lines to really take in the beauty of it)

Good, then they'll know you're mine. Wren-what a pretty name. Let's see if you sing like one too."…. Adorable! That's not necessarily what you would associate a vampire book with, but here we are. Aaron is such a golden retriever and I adore him and I need more male leads like him.

Family is the circle of people who nurture your soul, lift your spirits, and make your heart feel at home.” Going in I didn't realize this book was just part one, which is kind of important because this sets up A Lot. Especially the last couple chapters. Knowing that makes the pacing make a lot more sense though. Overall this was a very cute book and I look forward to the next one! This goes past just romance and has a very interesting story dealing with old power that I can't wait to see the progression of. I don't wanna say too much because spoilers but I do highly recommend this book and my only real complaint was that there was a fair amount of spelling errors. I'm gonna assume that's because it's an ARC though. Thank you to S.L Cokeley for providing me with a free eARC of This Blood that Burns Us in return for my honest opinion. The world building in this book is absolutely phenomenal. At first, I was slightly confused, but that has nothing to do with the way it is written. The Blood That Binds Us has a captivating plot that drew me in immediately, with wonderful world building and immense political intrigue as we learn more about the various forms of magic and the oppressive castes systems in this world.

You have somewhere to stay tonight?" She asked after a moment. He shrugged and offered a small smile, scooping his latest book into his bag. Hi, I’m Erin, and if you haven’t guessed by now, I’m more than a little obsessed with all things fantasy and morally gray characters. I’m a wife and mom to a little boy, I currently live on a very tiny island off the coast of Alaska, and I survive on cold brewed iced coffee. I hold a degree in Film and Media Studies, but decided to shift my focus to where my true passion lies—writing dark fantasies with messy relationships. Friends are the confidants, the support system, and the soul siblings who bridge the gap between blood relations.”Family isn’t always blood. It’s the people in your life who want you in theirs; the ones who accept you for who you are.” True family is a constellation of kindred spirits, bound by empathy, understanding, and a shared sense of belonging.” I don't mind a dual POV, but one of the chapters switched POVs in the middle with no warning and I was very confused.

PDF / EPUB File Name: The_Blood_That_Binds_Us_-_Erin_Mainord.pdf, The_Blood_That_Binds_Us_-_Erin_Mainord.epub Being in hiding was easier than you’d think. Just keep your head down, don’t draw too much attention to yourself. Pretty simple, right? Well, it had nearly been a year and Tommy hadn’t been caught. No catch. You join me and I'll give you everything you could possibly want. In return, all you have to do is stay." He stood close now, close enough that Wilbur could see the way his eyes curled with sadness, close enough that he could see the man behind the monster. They stood like that for a moment, head to head, chest to chest, peering into each other's souls, then Phil was gone, swept away into the Misty shadows once again. Yo creí que las escenas de romance serían en el libro 3 y 4 ya que la autora mencionó que el romance se intensifica conforme los libros van saliendo. Pero, HOLY COW. La autora se escribió unas escenas que… holy water 😮‍💨. La escena de la piscina 🔥. Y la del cuarto con la TV?!?! 😳. My favorita. Now to the good stuff, Aaron, and Kimberly's relationship growth! I loved these two in This Blood

Romance? No. If you want a slow burn that burns so slow you don't get a kiss - even in the epilogue - then sure. But there is no actual romance or love in this story. She grabs his wrist and that's about it. Even their final "proclamation" of love is FILLED with the word "hypothetical," and I mean that literally. Family isn’t confined by genes; it’s the tribe of people who make you feel cherished, supported, and loved.” the dynamic between the four brothers, luke, zach, aaron, and presley, was great and i really enjoyed reading about it. at times, i did feel that the three older brothers were a bit overwhelming. the author posted on tiktok about how luke and zach were the over-protective brothers and aaron was a big cinnamon-roll. i felt like it was too much in some areas. like the author was trying really hard to make them fit those characterizations and ended up making luke and zach over-protective in areas that other characters didn’t even need protection and aaron an overly-spiced cinnamon-roll that made him seem immature. (hopefully everyone understands what i’m trying to get across.) again, this was in some scenes and not throughout the entire book. All of this makes up an incredibly fun cast in our more tense and worrying plot. Seeing these characters deal with the rough situations they end up in means we get to see how their views change throughout this. I found this incredibly satisfying to watch. Blood may connect you biologically, but the threads of the family are woven by the moments you share.”

Are you going to kill me?" Wilbur whispered, heart hammering in his throat, eyes lowered to the ground. All through his youth he had heard the whispers of monsters in the night, learned the deep-seated fear that came with deep shadows and quiet corners and the dead of night. People disappeared, found dead days later, empty husks with their faces frozen in pain and terror. Some people were never found. He knew the stories, but somewhere in the last year, he forgot to fear them. Now he was gonna die for his arrogance. He wasn't prepared for the Man to laugh inches from his face, his footsteps as silent as the night around them. Wilbur flinched. The characters are just painstakingly dull. I understand that the author was going for a "respectful" play on vampires, but there was a way to do that without making them lifeless. (pun intended) The main character was also just as dull as the rest of them. Chelsea could have been cut from this book entirely and nothing would change. But we needed a petty sorority girl for our "not like other girls girl" to compare to and have a conflict with. I damn nearly saw my brain with how hard I rolled my eyes every time she was in a scene.

A- a gift?" He felt rather than saw the man circling him, watching the way his shoulders tensed and his breath hitched and his knees shook. As hostilities deepen and war draws near, Wren is determined to rein in her wild magic and bind it to her will. With the lives of everyone she loves at stake, Wren must look within and decide if she is the monster she fears, or if there is light to be found in the darkest parts of herself. Off topic, but if vampires can only be turned through The Family's blood, then how was William and the rest of his murderous anti-vampire squad turned? Their goal is to rid the planet of the evil of The Family but isn't the call coming from inside the house? It's also very possible in their monologuing toward the end I missed some explanation as I sped-read through it in the middle of Texas Roadhouse while waiting to be seated so I could mark this book as finished. Truthfully, Zach and Luke would've been more interesting if they had done some culty shit like it's hinted at, except the Calem brothers are all uwu boys who survive off their undefying brotherly love for one another so they can't outright do anything bad because it would take away from their golden retriever vibes. This just came to mind that I'm still confused about, but William mentioned that it was never Kimberly he was after, but rather Aaron and his brothers. I can accept this because as far as interesting main characters go, there isn't anything about Kimberly that would make William go feral over ala Bella Swan and James. But if that's true, then why would he bite her after the frat party without taking any blood, then proceed to steal her purse? I feel like that Charlie Day meme from It's Always Sunny as I try to make sense of these plot points that just make no sense. Friends are the heartbeat of our chosen family, intertwining lives with a connection as strong as blood.” Sometimes, the draw of blood was too strong, making the newfound feeling within boil with rage. Tommy still remembered the first few weeks of the change, and how difficult it was to stumble along the streets without murdering anyone on sight. He survived on cats and stray dogs for most of it - which made his stomach churn at the disgusting violation of his morals. In the end, it wasn’t enough. That feeling was too strong. He still remembered the first human he fed on outside of the coven, and it made his spine shiver as if cold ice was spreading through his blood, chilling him to the bone.
