About this deal

Klutch is an American company that produces a small range of electric and petrol-powered barrel mixers for cement, most of which are of the tilting variety. Their mixers have durable solid rubber wheels for easy transport of cement and feature hard-wearing steel-framed mixing drums. Scheppach Although this concrete mixer weighs a pretty substantial 52 kg, it’s surprisingly portable. There are wheels on the base of the sturdy frame for transporting it across smooth surfaces. I know from bitter experience, nottobuy a budget version of a tool or machine as I have been disappointed so many times when I find out that something might be cheap but certainly isn't cheerful! If you are like me then you like to buy the best that you can afford and get something that works properly, is useful and most importantly that it lasts. Keen DIYers will know the benefit of using a cement mixer. Although mixing cement can be done without one (either mixing by hand or with a paddle mixer) – it’s certainly pretty hard work. Despite its large size, this cement mixer is manoeuvrable and easy to store. The stand can be removed, meaning the unit can be stored in two parts. Just be aware that the drum unit has wheels on the bottom to aid transportation, but the stand does not. This means that to transport the mixer, you’ll need to take it apart. On the plus side, this cement mixer is reasonably lightweight for its size, weighing 45.5 kg which will help with manoeuvrability.

Concrete mixers are available in a range of sizes and can suit a variety of budgets. Naturally, there are a lot of large, professional cement mixers to buy or rent, but most smaller projects don’t warrant such a big machine. This electric concrete mixer has a 113 L mixing volume which is equivalent to approximately 1.5 wheelbarrows. It works efficiently to mix concrete thanks to its 550 W motor. Although the majority of models have wheels, heavier machines can still be hard to manage. This is especially true if you need to lift the mixer onto a stand, or lift it over different levels in the garden.

Owning a cement mixer can be particularly useful for DIYers who are about to embark on a string of different projects in the house and garden. Concrete mixers can be used for other jobs besides cement mixing; they can even be used to mix plaster, animal feed or potting soil. As you’ll see from the machines listed below, I recommend using an electric cement mixer for domestic jobs rather than a petrol machine . Mains-powered cement mixers are good value for money, require little maintenance, and don’t emit fumes. Renting mixers can get pretty expensive, and the cost of buying a small mixer may work out to be the same as renting a larger one– or even work out cheaper. Plus, when you own the mixer yourself, you have more room for error; it won’t cost you by the day if your project runs over. Non-tilting mixers rotate only on their horizontal axis and feature an open-ended mixing drum with an internal chute running out through the bottom. Base materials are fed into the drum mouth, and mixed concrete discharges from the base, resulting in a speedy mixing process. Reversing drum mixer. Straight away you might be thinking – why would I buy a small cement mixer when I could just rent a large one?

For the most part, assembly is fairly simple; the instructions are illustrated and reasonably clear. The main issue that can occur during assembly is knowing which way round to fix the paddles (which can cause confusion with a lot of cement mixers). There aren’t many downsides to this machine, although it’s worth bearing in mind that the larger size may complicate storage. Electric cement mixers are very easy to use and generally lighter than petrol powered models. The only downside is that you’ll need a power source nearby, or for it to have a very long cord. Assembly takes approximately two hours, which is arguably longer than you might expect for such a small, portable concrete mixer. The instructions need to be followed carefully and there are some videos on YouTube which can make the process easier. This cement mixer is also reasonably noisy, despite its small size. Continuous-style cement mixers are much larger and are often permanent or semi-permanent installations. These cement mixers are designed to continuously produce concrete over several days, using giant funnels and screw feeders to mix base cement ingredients. Tilting drum mixersTilting models are variations of drum or barrel mixers, though their drums are designed to angle downwards as they rotate. This causes the mixed concrete to discharge away from the internal walls, making them terrific at breaking down mixtures that include large pieces of aggregate. Non-tilting drum mixer. It’s suitably powerful and large enough for medium jobs around the home and garden, whether you’re laying shed foundations or putting down paving. It’s sturdy and stable thanks to the powder-coated steel frame. It has a massive 150L drum which can easily produce around 300lbs of concrete per batch, and it benefits from using a 4HP petrol engine to achieve drum speeds in excess of 30rpm. It's not a bad product, but like I say you get what you pay for. I would suggest buying it if yo u mix cement/concrete sporadically. But if you're a heavy user, or need that extra reliability get a more expensive one. Read full review... Thismodel has a 50 litre drum so itsnot that big and is only suitable for fairly small loadsand really that's what it has been designed for.
