About this deal

Akkeshi Blended Whisky Usui”. More than half of the malt is from the Akkeshi Distillery, that is blended with imported new make spirits of grain, finally barreled at the Akkeshi Distillery and aged for over 3 years. It has now been 6 years since the operation of the first distillery in Akkeshi town in Hokkaido began. This whiskey is the result of our uncompromising commitment to manufacturing and the widespread recognition of Akkeshi's environment as the best place for whiskeys. As in Islay, the distillery is located on the seafront with the Pacific Ocean a few meters away. Surrounded by marshes, it also has direct access to local peat.. This Akkeshi whiskey is the second of the '24 Solar term series'. The series is inspired by the ancient Asian calendar where a year is divided into 24 solar seasons. Profile: Harmonious, soft, peaty. Cocoa, citrus, pepper. Nikka Coffey Grain is unique in style compared to the generally well-balanced blends you may be used to in Japanese whisky. It’s a single grain whisky, used in many of Nikka’s award-winning blends, and this bottle offers a chance to show itself off as an elegant whisky in its own right. One of the few “official” Japanese whiskies remaining since the new legislation, Nikka Coffey Grain is distilled in “Coffey stills” imported from Scotland (named after their inventor, nothing to do with espresso), using corn and malted barley. The Togouchi range includes ‘highly unusual’ whiskies that have been finished in beer and sake casks.

Most styles will be blends, made with malt and grain whiskies sourced from different distilleries. Single malts are produced at a single distillery, and pure malts are a blend of malt whiskies from multiple distilleries owned by the same producer (Japanese distilleries are fiercely competitive and tend not to trade their liquids). The bottling joins three other Akashi whiskies in the market: Akashi Blended (40% ABV), Akashi Single Malt (46% ABV), and Akashi Single Malt Sherry Cask 5 Year Old (50% ABV). We may sell, license, transfer, assign or in any other way dispose of the Service (including Members) to any third party without any notification to you, e.g. (but without limitation) in connection with any reorganization, restructuring, merger or sale, or other transfer of assets. In this list, we’ve chosen to include a breadth of whiskies from Japan, rather than simply those labelled “Japanese whisky”, but have made it clear which products don’t meet the new terms.

White Oak Akashi Blended Whisky Info

Walsh Whiskey owner Amber Beverage Group enjoyed ‘strong’ double-digit growth in its 2021 fiscal year. White Oak Akashi Blended Whisky is another newish whisky added to the American releases of Japanese whisky. Originally a sake distillery, White Oak distillery has been around since 1919 and is a whisky that’s been getting some attention lately, though not all of it positive. Nothing in the Terms shall exclude or limit our liability for fraudulent misrepresentation or for death or personal injury resulting from gross negligence or willful misconduct by us. Tina Connolly, senior brand manager at ABUK, said: “We are proud to be marketing and selling these two iconic Japanese whisky brands. Akashi and Togouchi are artisanal brands that each offer interesting and exciting whisky expressions.

This is whisky blended in the scotch tradition, with Japanese precision, the malt is lightly peated, and vatting is mostly ex-bourbon, balanced by White Oak’s unique variety of barrels. Or try a Highball. This simple serve combines three to four parts soda to one part whisky. It's best consumed alongside your favourite Japanese food. How we test Japanese whisky Without prejudice to the section Liability below, the Service may be temporarily unavailable during maintenance, updates, etc. We shall make reasonable efforts to inform you of any unavailability due to maintenance or updates. The White Oak was the first Japanese distillery to gain a whisky distillation licence (in 1919) and today, it continues to make whiskies in the traditional Scotch whisky style. Akashi is a blend of characteristic Scotch malt and other grain whiskies. The result is a tipple heavy with cereal and spice, but still straightforward and simple enough for everyday drinking. Taste-wise, Japanese whiskies run the spectrum from light and fruity to luxuriously rich. Expect sweet honey and toffee notes, a hint of fruit such as orange and a characteristic smoothness. You’ll often enjoy a warming sherry heat, plus a little smoke where a peated malt is involved.White Oak’s pot stills are relatively small. Typically, smaller stills result in a heavier and more congener-heavy spirit, but Akashi whiskies tend to retain this complexity while having a lighter character. A slower distillation run and the copper of the stills certainly help achieve this result. Amber Beverage UK (ABUK) markets the whiskies on behalf of European distributor, Whiskies du Monde. Unless mandatory applicable law provides otherwise, your use of and membership to the Service are exclusively governed by Dutch law. We shall first try to settle any dispute over a dram of whisky. Disputes that cannot be settled over multiple drams of whisky shall be solely submitted to the court of Amsterdam, The Netherlands unless mandatory applicable law provides otherwise.

A touch of something fresh and menthol lends an almost medicinal note, but once left to breathe with a dash of water or ice, this becomes pleasant and vibrant – a welcome introduction to the heavier, dark sugary flavours. Good neat or mixed, this is a useful introduction to the world of Japanese whisky – just don’t go expecting a complex Scotch style. Japanese whisky – not whiskey, mind – has exploded in popularity over the past few years, with the two main distilleries, Nikka and Suntory, earning themselves global fans for their delicious drams. The distilleries are popular for good reason: they’re home to some of the best Japanese whisky you’ll find around today. You are responsible for all activities through your account. Togouchi is made at Sakurao Brewery & Distillery, a small distillery in Hatsukaichi, southern Japan. Founded in 1918, the distillery has been producing sake and other beverages for more than a century and began creating whisky in 1990. Whiskybase B.V. is the Dutch private limited liability company, having its statutory seat in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and its office at Zwaanshals 530, 3035 KS Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Whiskybase B.V. is registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under no. 52072819.The expression join three existing whiskies available in the UK: Togouchi Premium (40% ABV), Togouchi 9 Year Old (40% ABV) and Togouchi 15 Year Old (43.8%). Akashi is certainly one of the big names in Japanese whisky. However, production volumes are small. Their whiskies were long made for the domestic market with its lax definition of “whisky”.
