She deserved so much better, I know the mental health awareness we have gleaned since this was based and indeed probably since this was first published absolutely colours my opinion but it is what it is and I cannot get over it š He lived at Romney Hall, a stone structure built in the eighteenth century near Tetbury, Gloucestershire.
I had mixed feelings for this story. It is so beautiful but at the same time, heart wrenching! Finally, I got to know the late Edmund. Yes,ā Phillip ground out, wondering if Gunning was trying to see how red in the face his employer could get without actually collapsing to the floor in an apoplectic fit. Heavens, no, I have not the scientific mind, Iām afraid, although I do have a fair head for sums. My interests lie more in the humanities; you may have noticed that I enjoy penning letters.Marina had been melancholy. Marina had spent her entire life, or at least the entire life heād known, melancholy. He couldnāt remember the sound of her laughter, and in truth, he wasnāt sure that heād ever known it. On the sixth of April, in the year 1812 - precisely two days before her sixteenth birthday - Penelope Featherington fell in love. Because in her haste to leave London, sheād neglected to tell him she was coming. It wasnāt that sheād forgotten; rather, sheād sort ofā¦ pushed the task aside until it was too late. Queen Charlotte is a novel co-written by Julia Quinn and Shonda Rimes, set in the Bridgerton universe.
Mrs. Hurley gave him a look that was somehow dubious and sympathetic all in one, and he knew that she knew the truth. She had worked for the Cranes since their marriage; she knew Marinaās moods. And maybe all this was why her correspondence with Sir Phillip had become such a guilty pleasure. The Bridgertons were a large family, loud and boisterous. It was nearly impossible to keep anything a secret, especially from her sisters, the youngest of whom āHyacinthā could probably have won the war against Napoleon in half the time if His Majesty had only thought to draft her into the espionage service. For this story, all I can say is that what happened to Lucy makes Gregory's and my hair turn gray in fast pace. But the funny truth was, Eloise didnāt mind her situation. Or at least, she hadnāt, not until recently. Plus, Eloise is annoying. Like, so annoying and bossy. She never shuts up and she has an opinion on everything. And we're supposed to find that endearing? But now wasnāt the time to shirk his duties or his place, and so he sat at her bedside throughout the day and into the night. He mopped her brow when she began to perspire, tried to pour lukewarm broth down her throat when she was calm. And how was it that heād been so blind, that heād not expected it? Heād lived with Marina since the day of their marriage. Eight long years to know the woman. He should have expected it. And in truthā¦
I am writing to express my condolences on the loss of your wife, my dear cousin Marina. Although it has been many years since I last saw Marina, I remember her fondly and was deeply saddened to have heard of her passing. Quinn hits another 5 stars with this latest addition to the Bridgerton series. Itās brilliantly written, fun, funny, serious and heart-warming all at the same time with a nice dollop of steam to go with it ;)
Phillip glanced up at the ceiling and grimaced. Romney Hall was old and solid and very well-built, and if his ceiling was thumping, then his children had dropped (pushed? hurled?) something very large indeed. The second epilogue continues exactly when the first one ends: the birth of Lucy and Gregoryās twins. Drama, drama, drama. Plus unimaginative and boring names for the babies. He hated remembering. He wasnāt sure what was the worst. Was it the dive underwater or the moment Mrs. Hurley had turned to him and said, āSheās gone.ā
