About this deal

Either way, this scent is an addictive one, with a respectable longevity and an even more respectable sillage from my experience. The total dryness of it is a make it or break it from some people, there isn't a friendly nook and cranny to hide in here. But I like that. Some of my best and most thoughtful experiences have been walks in a rainy forest, which it conveys. A very unique and interesting fragrance. Presentation-wise, the heavy glass bottle is adorned with a wooden cap; “ENCRE NOIR” is displayed across the front. The minimalist styling and bottle are well done, as well is the atomizer. For an everyday fragrance, it can add a lot of class to any wardrobe or any stylistic choice. Anyone that is a fan of vetiver scents will enjoy this one very much. It does well with its cypress top and woody undertones.

There was a good comment that perfectly described this fragrance - "a normal fragrance." It's ordinary, subtle, not overpowering, just for oneself, in a word. Longevity (based on my perception) is about one to three hours. Sillage is, well, "kind of" there, but weak. I think this is a mature scent and would suggest this for a man 30 years or older. It’s deep scent would be ideal for cooler weather or evenings. I don’t find the scent to be overbearing and feel it would also be fine for the office. I have received many compliments on this fragrance, as I feel it is unique and projects well. I get about 6-7 hours out of an application, but everyone is different, with regards to cologne longevity. I find the silage to also be above average. If you are someone who is unfamiliar with subtle fragrances and only recognizes the base, then disregard everything you have read about "heavy, woody, moss, forest, rain." There is nothing heavy here, no forest, etc. I really don't understand people who claim to smell moss and forest when there is Cypress/Vetiver in the composition. It's like it was randomly written. For such an elegant fragrance, there was something jarring at first. The opening burst of Encre Noire, right after applying, can actually be quite harsh. Personally, I recommend you apply only one pump and mix it in with your skin. A friend bought a fragrance without consulting me first, of course. I want to leave a comment. READ IT, it will be helpful to you.

Encre Noire does well in the colder months of the year during fall, winter, and spring. It doesn’t always mix well with hotter temperatures because it blends in so carefully. It is a great scent for both night and day and can work excellent for a number of different occasions. Don’t try and test the smell right away, it won’t do the scent justice. After you mix it in, wait a few seconds and get a good waft of the scent. The smell you get should be of pure euphoria. The first time I tried the scent, I didn’t actually like it all that much. However, given the time the fragrance needs to truly blossom, I found it becoming one of my favorites in no time. It’s one that just can’t seem to be replaced by any of its peers. Truly a one-of-a-kind woody aromatic. Longevity Encre Noire’s lifespan is influenced by how the fragrance blossoms. As the top notes lose their punch from the beginning, The scent really relaxes and continues its calm nature for the remainder of the time. Encre Noire is composed as a scent and at times, blends in very carefully with the environment. So it will always keep you smelling wonderful. Those around you, just may not know where that elegant smell is coming from. When to Wear It To sum it up, if you are looking for a heavy fragrance, this is not it. If you love a good sillage and longevity, this is not it.
