About this deal

In short, slasher films – or at least my imaginings of them, sure enough became my own private fairytales. Associated, as their crude and effective posters were, with warnings and all things dark, sordid and forbidden, I was drawn to them just as Little Red Riding Hood was drawn unwittingly to the Big Bad Wolf. Everyone needs a bogeyman of their very own…

In June 2019, two sequels were announced to the 2018 film, with Green returning to write the script and direct and Curtis, Greer, and Matichak reprising their roles. [57] The titles and release dates of two sequels were announced as Halloween Kills, set to be released on October 16, 2020, and Halloween Ends, set to be released on October 15, 2021. Teems was confirmed as a co-writer for Halloween Kills, while Paul Brad Logan and Chris Bernier were announced to co-write Halloween Ends. [1] However, due to the concerns of the COVID-19 pandemic, both films were delayed, with Halloween Kills released on October 15, 2021, and Halloween Ends released on October 14, 2022. When the error was discovered, all copies that had not been sold, were recalled, and replaced with the correct Disc 2 that contained the missing "A Cut Above The Rest" documentary. (The rest of the extras were meant to always be on Disc 1, so the sleeve is incorrect in that aspect too, for which we humbly apologise.) Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995)". Dressed in funeral finery, this horrific multi-media scrapbook is a 'thank you' to fans while also serving as a comprehensive retrospective of the entire Halloween series, examining through interviews, convention footage, panel discussions, stills, and montages various elements of the franchise. Just about everything you could think of is covered in this 2 disc collection, from the initial inspiration of the premise and the aesthetic evolution of the series to the public response and continuing misfires/innovations. Of course the most satisfying feature of both the documentary and extras are the insightful interviews, which come across as both intimate and frank. These, along with a general air of discovery, instil knowledge without lecturing, helping the entire production feel more like an informal discussion than a scholarly dissection. The 2nd disc is in fact identical in menu design & content to the old Halloween Special Edition 2 disc set from Anchor Bay (which I have) except for the artwork printed on the actual disc.Little, Dwight (Director) and Allan McElroy (Writer) (1988). Halloween: 25 Years of Terror collects interview footage of many of the original's creators, including director John Carpenter, co-writer/producer Debra Hill, and star Jamie Lee Curtis. The very good-humored co-star P. J. Soles contributes the narration (and figures in the extra goodies shot at the convention). The film marches through the years, providing some fairly interesting behind-the-scenes material: the alternate versions of Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, and the controversy over differing Michael Myers masks in Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later. There's really no need to delve into each of the different panel discussions, because the only qualitative standard that could be drawn up would be by a die-hard Halloween fan - which I am not, save for the original movie. But the convention montage and "Fans of Halloween" features offer some genuine entertainment - especially the fan films, some of which are really funny and creative - and provide a little vicarious experience for folks who were unable to attend the convention in 2003. (Fret not - there's always the 30th anniversary in '08.) Rob Zombie's reboot of the film series ensured that any Halloween comics would not be contradicted by upcoming films, allowing Hutchinson creative freedom. Malek Akkad was approached by Devil's Due Publishing with the possibility of producing a line of Halloween comics, and he and Hutchinson worked to make them a reality. Hutchinson was convinced by the strong support of One Good Scare that the comic books would have an audience. [116] In 2008, Stefan Hutchinson released the first issue of his new comic book, Halloween: Nightdance. This is a four-issue miniseries, and it does not contain any characters—other than Michael—from the films. [118] The four issues are titled, "A Shape in the Void", "The Silent Clown", "A Rainbow in One Color", and "When the Stars Came Crashing Down". [119] The first issue, "A Shape in the Void", takes place on October 31, 2000, so that it falls between Halloween H20 and Halloween: Resurrection. Issue one follows Michael as he stalks Lisa, an eighteen-year-old girl with insecurities and "a chronic fear of darkness". [118] Hutchinson explains that Nightdance was an attempt to escape the dense continuity of the film series and recreate the tone of the 1978 film. Michael becomes inexplicably fixated on Lisa, just as he did with Laurie in the original Halloween, before the sequels established that a sibling bond was actually his motivation for stalking her. [120] The aim was to once again establish Michael Myers as a "credible and dangerous force". [116] The last act of the show is reserved for heavy doses of enthusiasm at the fan conventions, giving the impression that the solution to modern ills is to Stop Worrying and Love Halloween. Fans mob the Myers house location and watch the re-creation of scenes on the sidewalks of the city; the promoters have even gotten the Mayor of South Pasadena into the act. Fans are encouraged to submit audition tapes for a role in the next Halloween picture, leading to sleazy images of topless teens desperate to win a role as a featured victim.
