About this deal

This work showcases that perfectly. While he contains nightmarish depths, this displays how undeniably human he is. a b Marie, April (3 June 2016). "Junji Ito's Cat Diary: Yon & Mu (Manga)". Dread Central. Archived from the original on 29 July 2019 . Retrieved 9 November 2019. It's bizarre but completely realistic. I've never been a cat owner. Unfortunately, I'm highly allergic. But based on the experiences of my friends, this is accurate to their cat-owner-history. watch as they dealt with their two cats. I can't really relate to J-kun since he is just learning how to deal with cats but I've had cats ever since I was a baby. I definitely relate to A-ko better though since she already knows how to deal with cats. Now for the cats, Yon and Mu. Yon was way more creepier than Mu and I can see why J-kun was scared of him at first. On the other side, Mu was much more cuter. Mu also reminds me of one of my cats named Honey but Honey is vastly different from Mu since she is always angry, except for when she has just woken up.

junji ito is a writer/illustrator known for his horror manga, and here he focuses his energies on the most horrible horror of them all - the domestic cat. Art-Style Dissonance: Played for Laughs, since Ito still uses his trademark scary art techniques despite this manga being a Slice of Life story about cats rather than his typical horror fare. The Gadfly: While they are Happily Married, A-to can't help but tease her fiancée that Yon likes her more. She does, however, show him how to play with the cat toys properly. Despite being a manga about two adorable felines and his wife, Ito uses the same drawing style and presentation as for his horror manga. The wife has pupil-less eyes and a demonic grin. The cats are constantly drawn as creepy, fearsome beings internally plotting among themselves for their owner's demise. Frequently, Ito draws himself as an insane monster. This Tears of Joy: J-kun when Mu sleeps next to him. Except it's not really Mu, it's just a fold in his bedding.

Junji Ito, easily the greatest horror mangaka ever, decided to write an autobiographical diary about taking care of his two cute cats with his wife. It was a radical departure, but Ito's talent shined through, creating a funny, entertaining work. I have been successfully creeped out by horror manga-ka Ito's Uzumaki (a town driven to madness by spirals) and Museum of Terror (boys driven to madness and murder by a girl/femme fatale), so I just added this to my tbr list, and was surprised to find it is basically diary comics, the funny story of how dog person Ito got pushed into living with two cats by his wife. No.2 2月号 2008年12月26日 (in Japanese). Kodansha. Archived from the original on 22 May 2010 . Retrieved 30 July 2019. Junji Ito's Cat Diary: Yon & Mu ( Itō Junji no Neko Nikki: Yon & Mū) is a manga by famous horror manga author Junji Ito. The manga was serialized in Monthly Magazine Z from 2008 to 2009, with its chapters compiled into a single volume. Affectionate Parody: Of Ito's own work as a horror mangaka, since he still draws this series in his usual horror-oriented art style despite it being an autobiographical Slice of Life.

Then played straight in the final strip in the collected edition where Junji Ito explains Yon's deteriorating health and finally his death due to heart failure. The little inserts in between chapters (little Q&A that was published along with the chapters in the original release, with some very funny scenes and facts) also add to the score. One aspect I really enjoyed were the color photos of Ito's two real-life cats contained near the end of the manga. After seeing them, I was even more impressed by Ito's fictional depiction of them in the manga. Then again, as a cat lover myself, I know there is a little devil inside even the most innocent of cats!King Yon" chronicles Yon's further unsuccessful attempt to escape, his unusual strength, and his position as dominant cat within the household. Hodgkins, Crystalyn (4 April 2019). "Kodansha Adds Ninja Slayer Kills, Cat Diary: Yon & Mu, 3 Persona/SMT Manga". Anime News Network. Archived from the original on 2 August 2019 . Retrieved 2 August 2019. this is a comedic-horror manga, and it speaks to those of us who have invited these little devils into our hearts and homes, and the everyday horrors we endure as a result.

It’s great that the English speakers are reading my works and that companies are publishing my works, and I’m very happy for just that,” Ito said in an interview with Anime News Network. “Even for me, I was influenced by American movies growing up, and it’s a dream that people here enjoy my manga.” Junji Ito's Cat Diary: Yon & Mu" (in Italian). Panini Comics. Archived from the original on 29 July 2019 . Retrieved 29 July 2019.Lightmare Fuel: In essence, Ito parodies his own work by writing and drawing in the same style as his iconic horror fiction...except that it's an (almost) completely harmless story about him and his wife taking care of their cute kitties. Yon's Great Escape" centers on Yon's escape from the house. Both J-kun and A-ko search for him, eventually retrieving him from a storehouse. himself and the two cute (actually all but cute, in his art) felines, which hasn’t got that many interesting plot points, even though the premise is fine, the story is nothing special, 5/10. Today, we’re looking at his cat diary that he wrote when he and his wife first got married. In the manga, he dubbed over their names and called them like J-san, A-ko, Yon, Muu, etc. It actually hardly matters because the focus on the story on how he’s trying to cope living with cats, since he’s a dog person. I'm consistently intrigued by Junji Ito as a human being. His work as a horror mangaka is outstanding to say the least. But this man's brain is some Stephen King level shit.
