The tropical pineapple and fruity coconut go hand in hand. In fact, you don’t need another ingredient in this drink…at all! Here’s how to make a Malibu and Pineapple: To make a non-alcoholic version, follow the same steps, but soak your pineapple spears in pulp-free coconut water, then chill for a few hours and serve. The kids will love these!
Malibu is available in cans in Malibu Splash, a sparkling malt beverage with natural flavors. Malibu Splash flavors include Strawberry, Lime Passionfruit and Pineapple. After soaking and chilling the Malibu pineapples for 6 hours, serve by themselves or as a garnish in a tropical drink like a pina colada.

If you’d prefer to use canned pineapple, be sure to drain the juice first, then soak it in the rum.
Turn the pineapple so it is standing flat. Slice the outer skin of the pineapple. Be careful not to cut too much. You want as much of the pineapple flesh as possible. Malibu Coconut Rum is considered a coconut-flavored liqueur. Or, “Caribbean rum with coconut liqueur”, to quote the bottle. Malibu has lots of added sugar and a low alcohol level: it’s only 21% ABV. In contrast, rum has no sugar and a 40% ABV. So, it’s more of a liqueur (here are the technical definitions).What’s the easiest thing to do with Malibu coconut rum? Make Malibu and Pineapple! The two pair perfectly in a Malibu Sunset or Malibu Bay Breeze. But honestly, you don’t need all the extra ingredients. These essentials make one deliciously fun 2 ingredient tropical drink!
