Konaseema is located in the delta of the Godavari river. The economy is based mainly on agriculture, primarily rice production. There are some Mangrove forests in the northeast of the district. [2] It lies in between the two branches of the Godavari river. The Godavari divides into two components (i.e. Gautami and Vasishtha) and forms an island previously called Nagaram during the Mughal era. The land here is considered very fertile and suitable for agriculture. [3] States use varying names for their sub-districts. Detailed information is as follows (as of 2018): [47] State/ Union territory As these Buddhist monks travelled the Silk Road, an ancient network of trade routes that connected the East and West, they brought Buddhism to other lands. They carried mandalas with them and brought the practice of painting these spiritual compositions to other parts of Asia, appearing in regions such as Tibet, China, and Japan by the 4th century. Though rooted in Buddhism, mandalas soon became present in Hinduism and other religious practices. Painters of the spiritual craft were often pious laymen, who were commissioned by a patron. They worked seated on the floor with a painting propped in their laps or in front of their crossed legs. Types of Mandalas How are mandalas used? A mandala is a spiritual and ritual symboloften used in prayer and meditation in Asian cultures, as they are seen to represent the different aspects of the universe. The purpose of the mandala is to help enlighten the mind, assisting with healing during meditation. The mandala has been a part of the human experience for thousands of years, but ever since the popularization of the works of Jung in the 1960's and, more so, after the widespread popularity of the work of the scholar Joseph Campbell (whose theories are informed by Jung) in the 1970's-1980's, the significance of the image has been recognized far more fully in the West. Spiritual centers, yoga classes, grief therapy counselors, and many more institutions and professional occupations utilize the mandala in helping their clientele.Dutt, Ashok K.; Noble, Allen G.; Costa, Frank J.; Thakur, Sudhir K.; Thakur, Rajiv; Sharma, Hari S.
