About this deal

Cut the square into 2" squares; you'll have a total of 16 small squares. Now, cut each square in half diagonally, to make 32 small triangles. This is all easily accomplished with a rolling pizza wheel; if you're working on a silicone mat, be very careful not to press down too hard as you cut.

Sainsbury’s has a few different flavour scones this summer, including a Farmhouse Cheese, if you fancy a savoury taste, Cornish Clotted Cream and Summer Edition Orange Sultana and Blossom Honey. But I’m a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to these kind of things so I decided to try to the supermarket’s Sultana Scones. Finally, Highland Gourmet Scones is our last scone delivery recommendation. They’re a small business creating scones with big flavors and each one is made by hand daily. You’ll find a smaller selection of flavors – only 4 – but the scones are shipped in a decorative gift tin and would make a unique gift for anyone with a sweet tooth. The scones are presented in a lovely keepsake round gift tin that would make an ideal gift for anyone that loves fresh, gourmet scones. Highland Gourmet Scones – Classic Assortment Scones Highland Gourmet Scones is based just south of Birmingham, Alabama. They’re a family owned and operated bakery, specializing in premium gourmet scones.

There's something amazing about a fluffy scone filled with rich clotted cream and sweet jam, but it's always a shame when the scone itself just isn't quite up to scratch. Whether you're a fan of fruity or plain, there's plenty of options at our local supermarkets to choose from. Whether you top yours with cream then jam, or jam then cream, they are best served warm straight from the oven. These were the joint most expensive scones in our test, but they're worth every penny, with a mouthwatering appearance and a deeply satisfying taste and texture. Whether you eat them with butter or with jam and cream – or should that be cream and jam? – you're in for an afternoon treat.

When I cut them in half, they kept their shape well, which was pleasing as sometimes if scones are too dry they can crumble all over the place. These are enriched with Cornish clotted cream and buttermilk, and even without anything on, they tasted buttery and well seasoned.

Scones aren’t something I buy in regularly, but I do enjoy them, especially with traditional clotted cream, jam and a cup of tea. I have to say, these Sainsbury’s scones tasted delicious. They’re the closest thing you’ll get to authentic British, Yorkshire scones and they’re great value as you’ll be receiving over 30 scones for your money. Make sure you’ve got some strawberry jam and whipped cream on hand though, you’ll be seriously missing out if not. Morrisons Cheese Scones (85p for four) Reviewed by Neil Thrush – Boundless Cooking & Baking Group member These scones had an interesting hexagonal shape and were nicely browned with a sprinkling of cheese. They didn't have a particularly strong taste or aroma, though the hint of cheese and touch of heat from the cayenne were quite pleasant. Sadly, the texture was very claggy, damp and heavy.

Goldbelly is one of our favorite gourmet food marketplaces to shop. It features an almost overwhelming selection of small businesses that deliver their premium treats nationwide…and scones are abundant.

Many reviewers comment that they’re the best scones they’ve ever had and that they make an excellent gift idea for friends and family alike. They use an original recipe that has been perfected over three decades and offer twelve unique flavors throughout the year, depending upon the season. The size of these scones was much more like it, and they were plump and round – though I did think they looked a little dull and artificial. Texture-wise, they were dense and doughy, which meant that eating them with butter alone was a bit of a chore – cream and jam are a must. That's not to say that they weren't quite tasty, though, and their sweet, buttery aroma brought a smile to my face.

Transfer the scones to a parchment-lined or well-greased baking sheet. They can be set fairly close together; you should be able to crowd them all onto an 18" x 13" half-sheet pan. The scone was delicious - the sultanas were soft and full of flavour, and I was very impressed with the texture, as the scone was moist and buttery. Priced at just 99p for four, I think the Aldi Specially Selected Sultana All Butter Scones are a bargain and worth every penny. I’ll certainly be buying them again! Make the glaze by stirring together the sugar, water, and vanilla. If the sugar seems particularly lumpy, sift it first, for an extra-smooth glaze. Bake the scones for 19 to 20 minutes, or until they're golden brown. Remove the pan from the oven, and allow the scones to cool right on the pan. When they're cool, cut each scone in half once again, to make a total of 64 tiny triangles. Don't be too particular here; in fact, if the scones are already a size you like, don't bother to cut them again. But if you decide to cut, don't stress about making them all the same size, or perfect triangles; trust us, no one but you will care once they're glazed and on the table.
