The watch measures 38mm in diameter with a thicness of 12mm, not a bad size at all really. Some might say it’s a little smaller than the current average, but we’re only talking about 2mm or so, nothing to worry about really. The SNXS79’s lume, however, shines bright like a torch. It helps that the hour markers are so large and bold. It has a domed crystal and a case that’s scratched up, and has so much character, in my opinion. What is a Seiko 5? If you are looking for a simple, clean, yet beautiful automatic everyday timepiece, the Seiko 5 SNXS77 may be the watch you are looking for.
The Seiko 5 "Military" are among the most sought-after sports watches from the Japanese watch manufacturer. The design of these automatic watches resemble field and pilot's watches. The first time I owned it, I liked it. But I didn’t love it. At the time, I didn’t have many other watches to compare it to. Once again, the SNXS's water resistance is on par with every other cheap Seikos. The push & pull crown only allows for 30m of water resistance, which is ok for a few splashes here and there, but nothing more. It doesn’t last for an extremely long time, but fades out gradually and helps the watch be more legible in the dark and at night. Folded Link Bracelet
One of the great things about the Seiko 5 line is that many of the watches come in well under 40 millimeters. This SNXF05 measures just 37 millimeters across, but it’s given a boost in presence via the tonneau case. What’s really special about this watch is the dial, or to be more specific, the gridded pattern on the dial, which is something you just don’t really see today. Ditch the chintzy bracelet, slip on a neutral-colored leather two-piece strap, and you’re good to go. This is no big deal considering the low price of the Seiko SNXS and the dressy nature of the timepiece. The mechanical watches in the Seiko 5 collection have been enchanting watch lovers around the world since the early 1960s. It is one of the best-selling automatic watch lines worldwide and has always been aimed at sporty watch enthusiasts who are young at heart. What I didn’t realize at the time was that a smaller watch is actually classier and more versatile, as it’s more subtle and discreet.The bit of extra height does help to add a touch of extra wrist presence, though not by much. 7S26 Movement But if the SNXS79 is your only watch, you might as well get the exact size strap to fit it, which is 19mm.
Seiko is known for generally having very strong lume on their watches, but some of the Seiko 5 models fall short in this area. The watch has a water resistance of 30M/3ATM. This is a downside of this movement as it is certainly not a lot. It can handle water splashes but should not be submerged. At the same time, it is important to consider that this watch is made as an everyday timepiece, and therefore, good water resistance is not crucial. The watch has rectangular applied hour markers which enhance the watch’s feeling of quality. The markers have applied Lumibrite on them which allows you to read the time in the dark.
Seiko 5 is Seiko’s entry-level mechanical line of watches. They look great, have a robust in-house mechanical movement and are some of the most affordable automatic watches one can buy.
The Seiko 5 SNXS73K has a matte silver dial with rectangular applied markers with polished metal frames around them and applied Lumibrite on them. The dial gives it a wonderful look as it reflects the light beautifully. It has a minute and hour hand made in polished metal with bevels which allows them to reflect the light beautifully as well. The hands, similar to the hour markers, have rectangular shapes, and also applied Lumibrite on them. The watch has a simple yet elegant dial. This watch proves that even the most simple and clean designs can be the most beautiful. There is a wide array of automatic watches with designs inspired by diving watches in the Seiko 5 Sports collection. These include the refs. SRPD51K1, SRPD63K1, and SRPD55K2. The first two models belong to the Seiko 5 Sports family, while the latter is part of the Specialist series. All three watches are similar in terms of technology and design. At least, mineral crystals have a few advantages, such as being less prone to shattering, and the surface isn't as reflective as sapphire. One more thing to touch upon is the automatic movement, now I love watches with this style of movement. They automatically wind themselves using the kinetic movement of your wrist which is an interesting feature.

The bracelet has some play and some rattle but it is comfortable to wear, and due to its relatively lightweight, occasionally, you won’t even notice it is there. The full model number will have a J1, K1, P1, J2, K2 or P2 at the end. There may be multiple versions available and they may have different prices. As is common with affordable watches, the bracelet is the part of the watch that feels like it has been compromised with the most. It has some rattle and doesn’t give a 100% impression of quality. While the bracelet feels rather light and cheap, I must admit, it’s rather comfortable on the wrist.
