I do have a lightweight mattress topper. I always use one for that extra cushioning and, in part, as a mattress protector.
Now, for such a small price tag, I am not saying that I would buy this and sleep on it every night as my main mattress. Arguably the best thing about this mattress is the soft, breathable cover. Although this soft knitted cover appears to be quilted – it is not, it is just a design feature. However, that doesn't take much away from it. It is still pleasant to lie on, although we don't recommend sleeping on a mattress without sheets. Now, we took a slightly different approach with this one, as this is not the mattress you'd use every day. We've treated it as a guest or a kids bedroom mattress, as this one is exactly that. So, for a guest or a child, this mattress will be okay. Kids won't have any problem sleeping on it, and for one or two night's – we don't think your guests would also. It is a medium support mattress, so a good all rounder for most people and features Silentnight’s exclusive Miracoil system, which is also used in some of their more expensive mattresses. Having said that, for a child’s mattress or for a petite framed adult, there is no reason why this mattress wouldn’t be absolutely fine.However, it is made from hypoallergenic fibre, presumably polyester, so you won't have to worry about dust mites or other allergens. Supportive memory foam layer If you suffer with stiff joints and aches and pains – the foam will help to support your body better. There are 325 Miracoil springs in this Silentnight mattress and it is a ‘non turn’ mattress. Its unique design means you don’t have to flip it over every couple of months. This is not a soft mattress, but neither is it hard. I would class it as medium to firm support, which, long-term, is good as I have found softer mattresses tend to give up the ghost far too soon and need replacing more frequently. This mattress offers a good amount of support, with a springy firm feel from under layer and a cushioning soft feel from the memory foam. If you suffer with allergies or asthma, this memory foam mattress is hypoallergenic and anti dust mite. Uniquely this mattress comes rolled, just like the new trend of Simba and Casper mattresses, however this one costs about a quarter of the price!
