About this deal

The word 'silly' is overly used. Whenever Cassie uses this word, she makes herself seem juvenile and dumb. Cassie finds a way to crash the walls Sophie built around and they become connected in a short time. She even finds a way to be friendly with judgmental Iris who is the aunt of Sophie, insisting Aiden is not a role model father! Aiden’s entire character consisted of “trying” now that Sophie’s mom isn’t around, and struggling with the work-parenting balance. But I guess you can just make him say “good girl” once and all is forgotten. You can’t just write a “romance” between the two busiest people on earth so you don’t have to make them have a real conversation or any actual reasons to fall in love. I really liked THE NANNY, but it is surprisingly spicy! The spice begins early and does not let up throughout the whole book. So keep a water towel nearby! The story is good, lots of twists that keep the tension tight, but nothing too preposterous. I really enjoyed the character of Aunt Iris as Cassie's foil. Iris is rigid, fearful, and difficult to get to know, but still a good person. She brings wonderful tension into the story. Nothing exciting happened in the story besides Cassie and Aiden’s romance, but I need more than just a romance plot to keep me interested. So I started skimming around 30% because both characters would drone on with internal dialogue about their attraction to the other or just describe the day. It was boring writing unless the MCs were interacting directly, so the story as a whole was underwhelming.

The Pacing—A perfect breezy book with the right amount of depth. You can easily read this in one sitting! Cassie is a 25-year-old in her third year of Grad School for Occupational Health. After losing her job as a therapy assistant in a Children's Hospital and having to downsize her living expenses, she is seeking a job to balance her schoolwork. Whew. All that pent-up sexual tension exploded in one instance and it did so beautifully and I can finally breathe. It gave me intense blue balls in the first half and then I was left hot and bothered for the remainder of it. No complaints here. There was a big to-do about Sophie being such a difficult child who ran off several nannies already, but it turned out she was just, like, a normal child? And Cassie wins her over in one or two interactions via regular human decency? That was odd.

While the story is told exclusively from present day, each chapter begins with snippets of Aiden and Cassie's anonymous online relationship, when he was paying for the privilege to watch her... ah, play with "toys," if you will. Aiden is a chef who is married to his job, so it was easy to see how his loneliness could lead him to getting a little carried away with a masked beauty online. That certainly added some extra tension and history to the relationship, especially once Cassie realizes the connection. It also makes sense why they connected so easily over the physical side of things in present day, though I think I would've preferred for them to connect emotionally in present day before realizing that they are extremely compatible in the bedroom. That would've been stronger to me, but the way things play out makes this a super sexy read. I also think it was a missed opportunity not to have them connect more emotionally, since Aiden does have so much work to do on himself. He's struggling as a single dad, he's struggling with work, and he's pushing his daughter's aunt away. So there was a lot of potential to dig in deeper there, and that didn't really happen. That being said, I loved the light and sexy vibes. It's a smile-inducing, feel good read much of the time, paired with tons of heat. And I've got no complaints about that! So this ended up being a very solid read for me, but there were too many missed opportunities for me to call it 5 stars.

The Banter—Cassie and Aiden just got each other and the dialogue felt akin to a movie or show, which I personally really ,really love. If you're looking for a swoon-worthy romance that'll make your love butterflies flutter, this is the one! When Cassie loses her job in the children hospital, her plans to keep a roof above her head and pay her school tuitions sound like impossible plan to her! She needs a job covering her expanses urgently! Her dreams come through so fast than she expected when she answers an ad for live-in nanny position and gets summoned to an interview with her future boss at the restaurant he works at.Two wolf shifters agree to be fake mates but unexpectedly find something real in this steamy paranormal romantic comedy by Lana Ferguson. The sexual tension between Aiden and Cassie is like the most decadent chocolate and the payoff is definitely rewarding. It left me hot and bothered. Also Lana is one of the funniest authors I’ve ever talking to & I am so glad I got to meet her through this book & give her all my updates while reading 🫶🫶 The book was dual POV, but mainly centered around Cassie’s narrative. When Aiden’s sections begin, the tension is through the roof because they’re so strategically and sparingly placed. I haven’t seen many books with an imbalance like that and god I adore it. Before nearly every chapter, there were sections from their OnlyFans conversations that WORKED SO WELL. I’m normally not a fan of fillers like that but sweet baby Guy Fieri I’ve been taken to FLAVOR TOWN.

But let’s just pretend sex workers, especially women, don’t routinely get stalked. That’s so not a thing, right? Among Cassie assuming her new role as a nanny, I really loved the relationship she formed with Sophie. Sophie was initially hesitant and wary of Cassie, but through Cassie’s kind ways, she was able to get Sophie to open out and find comfort in someone. Sophie seemed like a great kid, and the way she was feeling with her dad always working, she felt like she didn’t have any one to open up to, but thankfully with Cassie, she found a friend in her which was really heart warming to see. Even early on in the story, it was evident that Cassie cared a lot about Sophie, as well as Aiden, and their overall wellbeing. Cassie might have taken on the job of being a nanny as a way of rescuing herself from financial burdens, but she found herself growing close to both Sophie and Aiden. year-old Aiden Reid is an executive Chef with an extremely busy schedule and a adorable 9-year-old she-devil of a child who ran off her the last 4 nannies. Aiden struggles between making time to take care of his daughter and running the kitchen at the fancy restaurant he works at. He's hopeful the next Nanny will be the one.

The Nanny

But Cassie has hard time to resist the charm of her boss! And she finds a big secret about him. When Cassie worked as a camgirl for OnlyFans account to make extra money for school tuition, she fell for her customer she had several private sessions. Their sessions turned something more intimate and they decided to have a face to face meeting eventually. But her customer got cold feet and ghosted her. So she felt broken-hearted and deleted her account. Now she finds out the man she virtually felt so hard is the same man she’s ogling daily ! It’s her hot boss! Now, onto the not-so-great parts. Personally, the "meet cute" on “OF” wasn't my cup of tea. 😅🙈 But hey, different strokes for different folks, right? Also, the repetitive dialogue got under my skin. If I heard "I don’t want to overstep" one more time, I might have given up on the whole shebang! 😤😩 Ferguson makes the will-they-won't-they sing with complex emotional shading and a strong sense of inevitability to her protagonists' connection...Rosie Danan fans should snap this up * Publishers Weekly (starred review) * This was the first half of the book: They would have an awkward conversation where one of them says something really unprofessional, they would avoid each other for a bit, and then "accidentally" bump into each other in the kitchen to have another weird conversation that would end awkward, and then they'd repeat the cycle. I'm not even kidding this happened a minimum of 3 times! And then the second half was just sex, no plot (not that the first half had much plot anyway). The worst part was they were so BORING! There was no chemistry between them, besides the fact that they thought each other was hot, so I just didn't care. They had no personality except that Diden was busy with work and Cassie had bad parents. But even that was underdeveloped because we hardly got any scenes of him at work (or literally doing anything other than coming home from a long day) even though it was a dual POV, and I swear we never even found out what Cassie's parents did, only that she moved out at 18. And don't even get me started on her Snapple facts... it was giving the same energy as the Ellen letters from It Ends with Us 🤦🏼‍♀️ The Nanny is sweet, beautifully sexy, and Aiden is the single Zaddy you want in your life. An amazing debut * Elena Armas, New York Times bestselling author *

The Characters—Aiden is so dreamy and I really liked Cassie too! But the side characters flesh out this book so well. Wanda, Aunt Iris, and Sophie help bring this world to life. I absolutely ADORE Sophie! Sophie. Sophie. Sophie. Sophie!! Oh, she is the cutest, little, stubborn, sassy nine-year-old who thinks that she's 27 and is ADORABLE. If she were not in this book, I would have probably rated it a lot lower because she just made it! Everything and every scene in which she was present just felt a whole lot more wholesome than when she wasn't there.I really like the MCs and side characters. They are developed and somewhat complex. I really enjoyed how sweet Cassie is with Sophie and seeing Aiden figure out how to be more present as a parent. However, I never felt attached to them, and as a whole, they feel a bit generic. The Nanny is a single dad romance but this daddy is a CHEF and an absolute sweetheart with an adorably grumpy encanto-obsessed-pancake-loving-9-year-old who lovingly burns him at every chance she gets (in a literal sense), I guess that's why he comes off so humble—and of course we can't forget the Nanny who is about to change their lives. But Aiden Reid, executive chef and DILF extraordinaire, is far from the stuffy single dad Cassie was imagining. With those hands and eyes that scream sex, such close proximity feels dangerous. With no other option, she takes the job and moves in with him and his adorably tenacious daughter, Sophie.
