About this deal

Anyone who has read books 1-3 of the 'Who Let the Gods Out' series will of course, be reading this no matter what. The story of Elliot, unwittingly involved with the Greek Gods and their battles as he himself battles his mum's dementia has been a moving one. This book is laugh out loud hilarious and I just adored each and every character. Elliot is brave and good hearted and going through such a hard time. The Gods were hilarious and I love how Maz has made them so quirky, fallible and bang up to date. There is also a rather special appearance from her Majesty the Queen that was quite simply magnificent. Who Let The Gods Out is the first in a four part series and I for one am very excited to see what happens next for Elliot and his new friends. ~ Shelley Fallows

The first book in the hilarious bestselling WHO LET THE GODS OUT series, shortlisted for the Waterstones Children's Book Prize! I was captivated from the get-go–the story is charmingly infectious, Elliot is a great main character (I adored how sassy he was,) and the Gods were SO unique. Shortlisted for both the Waterstones Children's Book Prize and the Books Are My Bag Readers' Award.I will give a special mention to the handling of Josie (Elliot's mum) and her mental health/memory issues. The storyline was well handled and honest, one of the only parts that was consistently good, but still could have been pushed a little further. Read two books of this series. Some of the things are quite nice, like the hero's mother's wish & the whole position of the relationship of the hero with his mother. & the villain's mother's manipulation & wiliness. Gal tau vertėtų ją pakeisti gerai veikiančia motina? – pasiūlė Mergėlė. Eliotas liūdnai nusijuokė. – Taip nebūna, – tarė jis. – Niekas negali pakeisti mamos.“

The star is Virgo. She thinks she's perfect. Elliot doesn't. And together they release Thanatos, evil Daemon of Death ... epic fail. A Piece of Passion from Barry Cunningham, Publisher ‘What I like about the classical gods is that they are so true to life. Wild, naughty, emotional and unpredictable, they carry on a bit like us humans – but with superpowers! Of course, in this story our hero Elliot has some serious real life problems to deal with too, and so Maz Evans takes us on a funny yet thoughtful romp. Hold on to your pants because you are likely to lose everything else!’ If you've read the rest of the series, you really must find out what happens to Elliot and his friends. Children aged 9-13 will also enjoy this series, and hopefully investigate Greek mythology as a result. It's all very cleverly based on the stories and characters, with distinctly modern twists. Before I start my rant, because the Gods know that I need one, I /can/ see some redeeming features: it was fun to read from the view of someone who knows a lot about Roman/Greek mythology, and it definitely appealed to its audience with its child-friendly humour. The storyline of Elliot's house and nasty teacher is also woven in, and is very satisfyingly drawn together. Every character you remember gets their moment. Longlisted for the Branford Boase Award 2018 | One of Our Books of the Year 2017 | February 2017 Debut of the Month Rekomenduoju. Maloniai praleidau laiką. Pilna nuotykių, veiksmo ir to tokio cinkelio, kurio visada norisi vaikui – pasijausti superherojumi – svarbiu, gabiu, reikalingu ir laimingu. Ir pabaigai, ištrauka i Šventojo Kodekso! Amen. When Elliot wishes upon a star, he doesn't expect a constellation to crash into a dungheap on his family farm.
