About this deal

The L-mount version of the lens works with Sigma's 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters to turn it into a 98-280mm F4 or 140-400mm F5.6 zoom, respectively. Sigma's teleconverters are not available for E-mount, however, and Sony restricts its converters to Sony lenses. If you have an E-mount camera and a teleconverter is something you like to use, you need to spend more on the FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS II or FE 70-200mm F4 Macro G OSS II. Sony a7R IV, 200mm, f/8, 1/250-second, ISO 400 (Credit: Jim Fisher) Several companies, meanwhile, make and sell 200mm deposition and etch equipment. Deposition involves putting thin films on surfaces. Etch tools remove materials. On a regional basis, China has three new 200mm fabs in the works in 2020, while the Americas, Japan, Southeast Asia, and Taiwan each have one plant, according to SEMI. The fabs proposed for 2021 are located in the U.S.

Meanwhile, several vendors sell new and/or used 200mm equipment. It’s difficult to list all companies and their offerings. One way to look at the market is to highlight a few companies and explore the issues at hand. The Sigma measures 8.1 by 3.6 inches (HD), weighs about 2.9 pounds, and uses 77mm front filters. It's about the same size as the internally zooming Sony 70-200mm F2.8 GM II (7.9 by 3.5 inches, 2.3 pounds) and Panasonic Lumix 70-200mm F2.8 S Pro (8.2 by 3.7, 3.5 pounds), but it splits the weight difference. (Credit: Jim Fisher) At some point, IDMs and foundries must expand their 200mm capacities by building new fabs or expanding their existing plants. In either case, device makers must buy 200mm equipment. Compared to its direct DSLR equivalent, it's even more impressive. The EF 70-200mm f/4L is 780g and 176mm –and that's before you add the extra size of the Canon mount adapter, which you'll need to put an EF lens on your EOS R camera. I see no signs of false color in lab tests or real-world samples. It effectively suppresses both lateral chromatic aberration (CA), which is often visible as purple fringing around tree branches or power lines that fall within the plane of focus, and longitudinal type (LoCA), which shows up as false purple and green color in specular highlights and transitional areas away from the plane of focus. These scenarios above is where I do most of my photography. I am not a sports or wildlife photographer where wide aperture and super fast focus matter. In terms of design, the FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS II features the standard white body of Sony’s telephoto lenses and an internal zoom mechanism which means the lens remains a single size. As usual, Olympus’s in-body stabilisation does a fantastic job, especially at shorter focal lengths. Olympus E-M5 II, 0.3sec at f/4.5, ISO 800 A zoom lens like this comes with tradeoffs. There is no magic here. The most obvious one is the aperture which is mediocre. The f4 is available only at its widest focal length. At 35mm it is already f4.8, at 50mm it is f5.6 and as soon as you get past 70mm the aperture get to f6.3. The good thing is that the lens is sharp wide open and in low light situation one needs to rely on camera high ISO performance. Purple fringing, flare, “sunstar” effectThere are several ways to look at the 200mm market. One is to break the market out into three parts — foundry vendor base, fab capacity, and equipment. The newer 2023 edition of the Sony 70-200mm sets out to take everything up a notch or two from is older (and less expensive) predecessor. It is lighter and has can focus much closer - in fact, can deliver 0.5x magnification close-ups.

An inch is the name of a unit of length in a number of different systems, including Imperial units, and United States customary units. There are 36 inches in a yard and 12 inches in a foot. The inch is usually the universal unit of measurement in the United States, and is widely used in the United Kingdom, and Canada, despite the introduction of metric to the latter two in the 1960s and 1970s, respectively. The inch is still commonly used informally, although somewhat less, in other Commonwealth nations such as Australia; an example being the long standing tradition of measuring the height of newborn children in inches rather than centimetres. The international inch is defined to be equal to 25.4 millimeters. The industry is expected to add more than 220,000 wpm in new 200mm capacity in 2021. In total, 200mm fab capacity is expected to reach 6.4 million wpm, according to SEMI. 200mm fab capacity includes discretes, epi, LEDs, MEMS, and semiconductors. Purple fringing – out of camera and corrected in camera raw – also notice less sharpness in the corner

Smooth Controls, Speedy Focus Motors

On the capacity front, meanwhile, IDMs and foundries continue to build new 200mm fabs. “In 2019, we counted five new 200mm fabs,” SEMI’s Dieseldorff said. “Seven 200mm fabs began construction work in 2020. One more, or possibly two, will start construction in 2021.” Key Specs: Canon RF mount, 70-200mm focal range, f/2.8 - f/32 aperture range, 77mm thread size, 2.36 lbs.

The broad zoom ring occupies most of the barrel, meaning it falls naturally to hand during shooting. It rotates through approximately 90 degrees from the wide to telephoto positions, meaning no shift in grip is required to access the full zoom range. It’s a little stiff in operation, with a noticeable increase in force required to get past the 100mm point, but this doesn’t hamper composition in practical use. The smoothly rotating manual focus ring is placed further forwards, and activates a focus-by-wire mechanism. Olympus 12-200mm f/3.5-6.3: Autofocus
