About this deal

Since its patent in 1896, it has been played by world-renowned musicians, such as John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young. To this day it is still being used by many professional harmonica players around the world, including bands like Walk Off the Earth. The physics of bending are quite complex, but amount to this: a player can bend the pitch of the higher-tuned reed down toward the pitch of the lower-tuned reed in any given hole. In other words, on holes 1 through 6, the draw notes can be bent and on holes 7 through 10 the blow notes can be bent. Hole 3 allows for the most dramatic bending: in C, it is possible to bend 3 draw from a B down to a G ♯, or anywhere in between. Most of the Suzuki range of harmonicas are tuned to an ET design. That has nothing to do with ‘going home’. It is a description of the tuning. ET, or Equal Temperate tuning, divides the octave into equal steps. It tends to sound better if you are playing single notes. the arpa central (also known as arpa mirandina 'of Miranda State’, and arpa tuyera 'of the Tuy Valleys’) is strung with wire in the higher register. [37]

The earliest harps and lyres were found in Sumer, 3500BCE, [11] and several harps were excavated from burial pits and royal tombs in Ur. [12] The oldest depictions of harps without a forepillar can be seen in North East Africa on the wall paintings of ancient Egyptian tombs in the Nile Valley, which date from as early as 3000BCE. [13] These murals show an arched harp, an instrument that closely resembles the hunter's bow, without the pillar that we find in modern harps.

THE HOHNER COMMUNITY

It arrived in Europe in 1821 and was used for tuning pianos. Its appearance in the US had to wait another ten or so years. The Chinese scorned western attempts at its manufacture, accusing the western versions of being sub-standard. I found that amusingly ironic. But Williamson was not the only innovator of his time. A young harmonicist by the name of Marion " Little Walter" Jacobs would completely revolutionize the instrument. He had new idea of playing the harmonica near a microphone. Big Walter Horton, Carey Bell, Sonny Terry(1911 - 1986), Junior Wells (1934 - 1998), James Cotton, Sugar Blue, Snooky Pryor, and Little Sonny were blues harp players also. Blues guitarist Jimmy Reed (1925 - 1976) sometimes played blues harp. position (or "double cross harp" or "slant harp"): Dorian mode. Playing the harmonica a full tone above its intended key. This gives a dorian scale between 4 draw and 8 draw, though once again bends and overblows give players a variety of options. Blues players can achieve a tritone by bending the 6 draw. On a diatonic, starting hole is hole 1 draw. On a C-chromatic, starting hole is hole 1 draw, resulting in D-minor with a raised 6th. This is the traditional way of playing Blues on Chromatic. Amplified (electro-acoustic) hollow body and solid body electric lever harps are produced by many harp makers, including Lyon & Healy, Salvi, and Camac. They generally use individual piezo-electric sensors for each string, often in combination with small internal microphones to produce a mixed electrical signal. Hollow body instruments can also be played acoustically, while solid body instruments must be amplified.

The Marine Band 1896 is one of the original blues harps designed by Hohner and has been a staple ever since.the traditional llanera harp, made of Cedar wood and has 32strings, originally of the gut, but in modern times are of nylon. It is used to accompany both dancers and singers playing joropo music, a traditional form of Venezuelan music, also known as llanera music. [36] Nicholls, David (19 December 2013).
