About this deal

If you’re a professional photographer with multiple lenses using an expensive DSLR or mirrorless camera, the F-Stop PRO ICU is a camera bag insert well worth considering. The camera compartment is side access, so you could keep the bag on and access your gear at the same time (though it’d be nice if there were at least one more access point). It’s a little hard to get in and out of the lowest internal compartment since the size zip doesn’t run low enough. Also, I find roll-top bags a little fiddly and unnecessary with their additional steps to get gear in and out of. Getting things in and out of the WANDRD PRVKE is simple. The zippers feel good, but they’re not quite on par with the glidyness of the Peak Design bags. V2 adds two new sizes you can find the Camera Cubes, making a total of five different loadout setups to choose from: XSmall, Small, SMedium, Medium, and Large. Like the V1, it’s made of weatherproof 100% recycled 400D nylon canvas shell and burly #8 coated ultra zippers.

At 60L, there’s not a lot that can’t fit in the Shimoda Explore! Depending on what modular unit you insert, prepare to shoulder every item of camera kit you own…and then some. Using the full capacity 15 or 20L of the Everyday Zip is actually easier than on other bags, thanks to the 270-degree zippered opening and wide access points. You can fit a couple of cameras, lenses, laptops and multiple accessories, with space on the bottom to strap a tripod. I have two images showing the version one and two versions of the protective flex-fold Shelf Divider. The lighter one is the second version. This is the only protective flex-fold divider that is shipped with the first version of the Peak Design Small Camera Cube, and is the only first version camera cube that I had access to, allowing for this side by side look. You can see that the hook part of the divider connection in the second version is better color matched with the interior fabric of the camera cube.

The new V2 Camera Cubes together with the range of Flex dividers are said to be 10-15% lighter than the first generation, making your gear load a little less heavy without sacrificing all the protection and weatherproof durability that comes with it. Fits a full-frame DSLR, stored horizontally with mounted 70-200mm f/2.8 lens; a full-frame DSLR with grip plus a mirrorless body with grip, compact drones with controller, up to a 15-inch laptop, 10 inch tablet, travel tripod, cords, cables, water bottle and smaller items.

If you’d rather not spend money on a camera bag insert for your mirrorless or DSLR camera, spare batteries, and other accessories, you can make your own bag on a budget. And lastly, there are small little loops on each corner of the bag that are pretty incognito. They sit right up against the bag, so they’re not going to snag anything accidentally but you can still get some good functionality out of them. Peak Design Camera Cube Interior This bag wasn’t really designed to carry much. It’ll fit a mirrorless with an attached lens, one extra lens (under 100mm), and few accessories like a GoPro or a hard drive. It doesn’t officially have room for a laptop, but you can get around that by unzipping the divider between the compartments on one side and slipping it down through the top. It does, however, fit an 8″ tablet in a separate sleeve. I couldn’t stop playing with the Dalston for the whole 2 weeks I tested it! Virtually everyone commented on it, photographer or otherwise. I can imagine in the loud orange (‘nasturtium’) colourway, you’d get even more attention. Camera inserts are modular in design, meaning you can tailor the layout to fit your specific cameras and lenses, along with accessories such as memory cards and spare batteries. The 15″ protective laptop sleeve has a unique adjustable feature, making sure those with smaller laptops can easily retrieve their device, without having to ‘fish’ for it. If you're only carrying around your camera, you can skip the camera bag, but I strongly recommend a strap. It's a safe way to keep your camera secure to your body, so if it fumbles through your fingers it won't hit the ground. Ditch the strap from your camera manufacturer; these alternatives are better. Additional options include using a camera cube for travel photography or a camera holster, which can be fitted on your hip for ease of access. I loved the zippered access points from multiple sides, and that exterior webbing that serves as carry handles that are built into the design from any side of the bags. No spinning the bags to find a place to grab it. I’m not a fan of how heavy it is, but as long as your airline has lenient carry-on limits, you can still squeeze it onboard, which is what I manage to do every time I fly for overseas work.I haven’t really used the PALS system much in the past, but if you’re into loading up gear on the outside I can’t imagine a better way.

There’s also the option of using a camera vest, which allows you to store your gear across your body and frees up your arms for other tasks. Instead of the previous YYK zippers which were very nice but not weatherproof, the new cubes have very nice weatherproof zippers. I think the new zippers are Peak Design’s own UltraZips, and as expected, they are buttery smooth. I can see nothing wrong with that. In addition, these improved zippers will clearly increase the protection of the cube when used outside of one of the larger, more protective, Peak Design Travel Line bags.Style-wise, this bag definitely won’t turn any heads, but perhaps that’s a good thing if you want to remain unseen! Empty Peak Design Camera Cube with all camera gear removed and the shelf divider opened up on the right hand side. Overall, access is much improved this time around, making big camera loads and side access on the Medium and Large Camera Cubes much easier to take gear in and out of. The Exterior Design feels polished, with a sleek exterior that has a less tactical feel of its predecessor. Prices If you already have a favorite go-to bag and want to use it for photo shoots, camera inserts can help maximize your available space. Keeping lenses, spare batteries, and flash attachments in separate padded sections helps to safeguard them from bumps and crashes, saving you from costly equipment damage. Streamlined inserts look and function much like a padded lunchbox with dedicated sleeves and compartments sized specifically for camera accessories. Several inserts feature rip-stop and water-resistant fabrics so items stay clean, dry, and scuff-free.
